Trading up to the 5/6 slot

To get Cousins, the Jazz would have to trade up to #4. Sacramento is pretty high on him.

The Jazz do need to make a call on Millsap. Is he the guy to play big-time PF, or is he a Carl Landry-like back up to comes in and hustles against the 2nd unit?

If we have to ask, that's not a good sign.

No question the Jazz would like to move up in the draft. That goes without saying. And I can't imagine any team in the league thinking Milsap is enough bait to do so.

Bing. With that comes rebounding (the purest hustle stat). He's also a nice defender that puts his body on the line and can come up with blocks (but you can't count on that, but that's hustle regardless).

His improved jumper evaporated down the stretch, and all of his points outside of that come from others making him a gimme, or sheer will-power (getting hacked under the basket and converting, offensive rebounds/putbacks). His ideal role is 24 MPG off the bench. I don't believe his game holds up to other teams scouting or his body holds up playing 30+ mpg against starters. In fact, when he had that chance, he proved he couldn't sustain it (when playing teams again as the starter, his production disappeared and his body fell apart).

Millsap is an asset. A first round pick is an asset. Either could be used to justify swapping picks. But the only reason that Sacramento or Golden State would trade a pick to the Jazz is because they're not psyched about the player slated to go #5/6 and the player they like is going to be there at #9. So it's no big deal to swap picks and pick up an extra player or future pick.

If the teams are high on the players available at 5/6, then there's virtually no chance they trade the pick. No one on the Jazz's roster short of D. Will is enough to make a team give up a high lotto pick, unless the team already wants to move out of where they are drafting in order to pick up an extra asset.

Golden State likes to run. Can Cousins runs? I say not well enough for the Warriors. If he's there at 6, don't you think Millsap and #9 would be enough for #6 to get Cousins and say their 2nd rounder?

Then again, we'd do all this without knowing if we could re-sign Booze or not. But if we could get Cousins and acquire an early 2nd rounder in the process, and re-sign Booze, **** me...and Golden State would get a very good 4 for their system imo and still have the #9 to get BPA.

I laugh at anyone thinking Boozer will be resigned with Andrei on the roster. Going to be pushing 80 million on the payroll.

"Well, Darkwing, we'll just trade AK at the trade deadline. I mean, teams LOVE trading for expirings, right?"

Only teams that will do that are teams with contracts that are horrible long term. Hello Antawn Jamison.

Sorry, I meant he's not a C. He's certainly a hustle player, but he's strictly a PF.

Wow, that reminds me so much of a typical politician. You say back to him in a interview a quote that made him look bad word for word, and he says 'i really meant to say was... (something in the opposite direction)'. If you were wrong, just admit it, what you said was pretty clear.

We'd be at about 48.5M if we did the trade I mentioned where Millsap goes out. That's for six guys (Deron, AK, Okur, Price, Miles, and Koufos). Say the following guys then make the following in the first years of their contracts with us...Booze--13M...Cousins--3.1M ...Fes to 2M per...Matthews--4.5M...Korver--4M...Pittman--900K...late 2nd rounder--800K...Gaines--1M...that's 29.3M more which would put us at 77.8M...Yeah, pretty far over a LT that could fall around 65M. Ugh...
