President Donald Trump was caught on a hot mic telling a Fox News reporter to give him a favorable review of the first presidential Cabinet meeting of his second term.

Trump’s banter with Lawrence Jones of Fox & Friends comes amid a much-debated White House press crackdown and was caught on an Associated Press microphone as the media filed out of the meeting.

Trump’s press secretary Karoline Leavitt thanked members the press for attending the hour-long meeting, with Trump piping up and saying: “Thank you very much, Pulitzer Prize!”

He noticed Jones leaving and added: “Lawrence! Look at Lawrence! This guy’s making a fortune! He never had it so good!”

He then urged Jones, perhaps jokingly, to give him a good review. “Lawrence, say we did a great job, please. OK? Say it was unbelievable!”

The comment was picked up by a longer live stream hosted by the Associated Press but did not make the White House feed.

The meeting itself was dominated by “special government employee” Elon Musk.

Trump’s hot mic remark comes after one of the AP’s reporters was barred from an event in the Oval Office earlier this month after the outlet refused to use Trump’s preferred name “Gulf of America” for the Gulf of Mexico. On Monday, a federal judge declined to halt Trump’s ban.

Meanwhile, Leavitt said during a press briefing on Tuesday that the White House press team would now dictate who makes up the floating press “pool” of reporters who cover the president, and not the White House Correspondents’ Association.

I made out of interest a poll in some Finnish forum I know have many rightwingers as well. I asked how worried they are about the American democracy right now. One third were not worried at all. In comments section it was mostly about woke this woke that, freedom of speech this, freedom of speech that. Unsurprisingly, when I linked some stuff about Trump administration filling important places with less competent loyalists, or about their pressurization over court/judges, they were labeled either as lies or just nothing to worry about.

Trump, Musk and maga cult really is affecting even people here next to Russia. They don't seem to even be worry about that. How close Trump and Putin are. Im kinda shocked how many blind people there have become in our tiny Finland through this algorithm powered culture wars. It's mind boggling. (Finnish government has far right party as well who mostly are magatards - of course the "moderate" right wing was needed to allow them be part of the governmet)

It’s not so much that MAGA is stupid as they find meaning and community through grievance and victimization. Their lives might not be improved through Trumpism but they sure as hell get off by seeing other people hurt by it.

This wild for Finland! Knowing your history with Russian invasion it surprises me that many support him. If you’re not familiar look it up. They used winter tactics on skiis! So cool.

This generation of voters haven’t lived through right-wing incompetence, fear, and violence. They will now. Last time they oversaw 9/11, we watched it unite us all, and then Bush and the GOP ruined all of it. They lied to all of us about WMD, and sent a generation to war in 2 countries, and crashed the economy on the way out. Sound familiar?

I think it's all about the "culture wars" and "woke vs. anti-woke" fantasy that surprisingly quite many, especially men (and should I say, young men) have bought in all over the world,honestly. Some of it it's their stubbornness is about not giving up ANY ground on their social media persona. Many don't just read reàl articles or don't understand what they read. They actually are not understanding how far right actions will affect. It's wild, because we see what such maneuvers have done to Hungary, Turkey, Belarus... And such nations leaders mostly seem to be either friends with Putin, or at minimum, neutrals.

I mean, how can't they not see it, I just don't understand..It might be I'm too old to fully understand how "flash score news" (TikTok news, X news, influencers) can throw off people. I'm the generation that read long articles and changed my voting habits and opinions if I saw my favorites not doing their job for people.
