It's a mistake to group them all into a category with the same level of criminal responsibility. There were many who acted just like tourists, many who committed minor infractions, and some who engaged in violence and destruction of property. Each person deserves, and should receive, the level of consequences commensurate with their actions.
 
Crazy thing is... When Democrats were openly murdering, looting, burning churches, attacking Federal buildings, attacking politicians homes with fireworks, our own Kamala Harris was posting tweets to bail these insurrectionist(a violent uprising against an authority or government) out of jail. Hell one of these guys that Kamala's tweet helped bail of jail got out an murdered someone with those Kamala Dollars(being facetious with the name calling). I think there might be at least 2 actually but we'll stick with the one I know. Democrats are the king of victimhood. They riot, murder, burn, loot, destroy, and violently overtake city blocks for 3+ months straight and stay silent. A few idiot rednecks that murdered not a soul violently riot and Democrats throw a temper tantrum for now what 2 years? This is classic bully get's bullied victimhood. The party that spent 6 years claiming the election was stolen and Trump was a Russian agent who pee'd on girls now calls other "election deniers". Democrats are everything and even far more than they accuse others of. Hell I remember Democrats and even here posters here in this very forum laughing at Trump as a coward when he was forced into the WH bunker due to a violent uprising right outside where Democrats were breaking baricades. Democrats literally laughed about that. I'm just curious... when was the last time a president was forced into the bunker due to violent Democrat uprising besides Trump?

You have far too much faith in what future generation Americans will and will not know. I'm guessing that within 15 years fewer than 10% of people in any random sample will be able to give even the most vaguely correct response to "what happened on January 6th?" The truth of the matter is that it was an overblown nothing-burger being publicized for election purposes. It didn't stop an election. It didn't almost stop an election. It wasn't even remotely close to the end of democracy. It was morons who created compelling content which was subsequently used by the opposition party to distract from a bad economy and social unrest in an effort to minimize electoral damage.

This kind of disinformation is why in time only 10% or less of americans will be able to give even the most vague "correct" response to "what happened on January 6th". Because there are so many falsehoods published as the "correct" story it will muddy the waters significantly.
