What's new

TURKEY-GERMANY : Nowitzki- Turkey

Germany beat us with only 3 players, Kaman , Nowitzki and i dont even know the other players name. Nowitzki had foul trouble all game, we were better in France game. It is really frustrating to see this game play. I am sad that we cant go to the olympics, Enes could put a good performance there next year

I feel for you. That is some serious horse-****. Turkey should be in the olympics (with a different coach).

Onan's been solid in this tournament. Good D, decent shooting. What's the problem with Onan?

I dont think he will quit but anyway he is like 33 something like that. So he doesnt have many years ahead.

The funny thing is, Turkey still has a chance, if we beat Serbia and Lithuania beats Germany tomorrow, we will proceed. But this team doesnt give me any hope for tomorrows game. There doesnt seem to be a light at the end of the tunnel. Many people may think Serbia sucks after they lost todays game by margin, but that game wouldnt make any difference for them anyway, they are completely focused on Turkey's game. They will work their *** off and take last year's revenge and i am pretty sure they will win

The good ones are. Onan, Kanter, Preldzic, Asik, and while Ilyasova is inconsistent, he puts in a nice effort I think.

Turkey has the pieces to make thunderous noise in this tournament. But instead they will be eliminated in the semi-semis.

Agreed. Preldziç is doing his usual things, he was same in Fenerbahçe, I mean there is not extra fight from him, he is just good. I am ok with Ilyasova defensively, bu he is far from his usual offense and totally shy on offense. Onan he is normally a much better deffender, also he is one of the best fastbreak players in the world, he didn't show this aspect of his game.

So just Kanter and Asik are the players I am totally all right with.

Damn I just remembered Asik's free throws.

Another possible scenario is LT losing both games vs France and Germany and in case Turkey wins vs Serbia it will be 3 way tie....wait, never mind in that way LT and Germany would move on as Turkey lost to them both. So yeah - Germany win vs LT would be the end for Turkey.

I trust in LT.
And I trust in Tur... No I couldn't, sorry.

I really hope that you will be happy to get up early and watch a tremendous team basketball. And I really hope that tremendous team basketball performed by our team.

Well, at least Enes proved he could hold his own against a couple of legit bigs in Nowitzki and Kaman. You would expect almost everyone to struggle against Dirk. He was the MVP of the NBA Finals and a sure HOF'er. Enes is a rookie. Dirk should have given him a schooling, but that didn't happen. Frustrating watching the coach and guards destroy Turkey's chances. On the other hand, imagine how happy Enes is going to be when he starts getting a few passes inside from Harris, Hayward, etc. and doesn't have to watch the guards constantly firing up errant 3's (oh wait, we have CJ and Raja).

Nice post. Everyone is so wrapped up in team Turkey, but this is a JAZZ fans website. Why should I care about the success of team Turkey or how bad the coach is? I agree he is terrible, but let's talk about what this means for the JAZZ. Enes Kanter was rusty, but way less rusty than he could have been, considering how long it's been since he's played a game at full speed. The guy is big, strong, tough, works hard, huge motor, great hands, runs the floor (to both ends), plays solid D, looks to be pretty skilled offensively (good FT shooter), and rebounds the hell out of the ball. I'm pumped. This has been fun to watch. Talks of the lockout situation improving gets me excited because of what I've seen of Kanter. He will take a few years, but so did Deron, John, and Karl. Alec Burks plays like D-Wade, Hayward plays like Brandon Roy, Favors plays like Stoudemire, and Kanter does play like Karl Malone the way he fights inside. Now I'm not trying to make any unfair comparisons, but I do think somebody of our stash of super young players should be really good. Sorry Turkey hasn't played better, but GO JAZZ!!!!

I don't know if you know this or not, but the longer Turkey is in the tournament, the more experience Kanter is likely to get. That's why this is relevant. Because it is about the Jazz. Because Kanter's on the Jazz.
