What's new

Ty Corbin Appreciation thread

We'll see if his vet-first, minute "earning" style has worked on the young players. He's put them through the ****ing ringer. If they are playing .500ish basketball by mid-season I would be very impressed. I'll give Corbin next season to see if all this crap has been worth it and he was right along. I don't really have a choice do I?
Unfortunately no.

"Earning" is correct. That's the biggest fallacy about the dude, he doesn't play his players that are playing best, hardest, or arguably even his best players. Because he's either that dumb or his dick is that small. NO VETS ALLOWED this offseason.

He has my belief, He is our coach and it does nothing no good to be negative.
We can believe in him because he is apart of the team whether you like it or not.
If we do not support him regardless of opinion then we don't not fully support the team.

Breakfast Lunch and Dinner is Utah Jazz Every single atom that i am Utah Jazz.
So why cant we be utah jazz?

I hate this argument. I want the team to do what is necessary to get better. I'll not blindly follow just because I'm a fan. If they are doing something I think is hurting the team I'll call them out on it in the forum's where it is available. And keeping Corbin does hurt the team IMO. So I'll not support him.

He broke one of the biggest chuckers to ever don a Utah jersey and made him resemble an NBA talent (Burks).

He's been top notch in developing every young player on the roster. I can't tell you which of the five young guys I'm most impressed with improvement wise.

Very effective game planning to create mismatches despite not having a single superior player to create areas to exploit.

Willingness to shuffle player combinations.

Made the most out of not having a point guard for two straight seasons.

Implements elements from every style NBA offense in order to maximize the talent [gap] he was dealt.

Won 36 of 66 with a **** awful team.

I understand your decision, i just feel thinking negative toward something you cannot change is wasted energy.

Let me tackle this ******** one line at a time.

1 - Burks ONLY played because he HAD TO. If Watson and Tinsley never get hurt, Burks never plays.

2 - TOP NOTCH in DEVLOPMENT???? Bwahahahahahahahahahaha. Funny stuff right there. Hayward's minutes decreased. Burks ONLY played because there was no one else to play. Our two TOP THREE picks? Couldn't get off the bench and beat out a six foot four pf that didn't bring effort every night, and another player that completely stalled the offense and didn't play a lick of defense. Development at its finest. Ha ha.

3 - The only mismatches I saw was how often the other team had wide open threes and layups Mismatches. Too funny. So, Al on the block for 14 seconds, then forcing a shot up with three defenders is taking advantage of mismatches? When you have good three point shooters out there and ONE had to be OPEN (Foye, Hayward, Mo)?

4 - LOL. Willingness to shuffle player combinations. That is too rich. I guess if you consider starting Mo at the one, Foye at the two, Marvin at the three, Paul at the four, and Al at the five one game and then starting Foye at the one, Mo at the two, Marvin at the three, Al at the four and Paul at the five the next game shuffling combinations, then sure, I'll give you this one. The dude was more rigid with his lineups than Sloan ever was.

5 - Made the most of not having pg...huh. Interesting. Knowing that your offense is set up around Al holding the ball for 20 seconds, than forcing a shot or maybe sometimes passing it out to a three point shooter, how many games did Foye start at the one? Burks? Give me a break.

6 - Is that what you call that unorganized, standing around, no movement, stagnant offense? Elements of every NBA style? Bwahahahaha. It's like what they say about QB's...if you have two, you don't have any. We didn't have an offense or defensive identity/plan/system/idea.

7 - Was given a superior roster than the previous year...and his win total decreased...as did the minutes of arguably his best player.

Yeah, Corbin was amazing.

The good news for you? At least Corbin knows his mommy still loves him and stands up for him, even when she ends up looking silly.

Dear Coach Corbin,

My family and I are very grateful for the way you have guided the Jazz over the past few seasons. In years past, I would be glued to the TV watching the Jazz go deep into the playoffs, while ignoring important household activities like cleaning out the garage, repairing the broken fence, pulling weeds, washing the dog, etc. The past few seasons under your leadership has given me the free time to get a lot of those things done without the distraction of the playoffs. I can finally fit another car in my garage now and my dog smells really clean, all because of you! Keep up the good work!

Thanks!

Nailed it
Couldn't have said it better myself.
I still don't know if frank is trolling with these types of posts.
I truly hope so

There are several threads bashing Ty, polls on who the next head coach should be, etc. So for those who really like Ty and want to see him remain as the HC, maybe even get a long-term extension, here's your chance. Post all the great things about Ty right here. I'll go first..........................................................umm, sorry, I've got nothing.

damm negrepped you before i read the last sentenced. sorry boyut that would hit you on the rebound

I would truly appreciate Ty if he coached the Lakers. . . . . .

Remember that song from the 60s:

Don't you know about the Turd
Everybody knows about the Turd
I said a turd, turd, turd

Good responses. I laughed when I read franklin's points re: Corbin, especially his game plans and player rotations. Yes, it was a wonderful game plan to lull the opponents into overconfidence by having the starting five create a 10 pt+ deficit in the first quarter, then have the subs try to fight back, then lather, rinse and repeat in the 3rd quarter. Shuffling player combinations? Oh yea, he FINALLY swapped Marvin and Hayward in the starting rotation. But he stuck with Millsap, Jefferson and Foye the whole way through. And he gave all three of those players a ton of PT, over young guys that he should have been developing and who were more efficient. The offensive system? Let's call it playground style. The oldest/biggest guy gets the ball while the other four stand around yelling, "pass it to me, pass it to me."

I understand your decision, i just feel thinking negative toward something you cannot change is wasted energy.

So you think you should be supportive of things that you love that you cant change?
So if your mom was a crack smoking prostitute then you should just be supportive and say "good job mom, I love everything you are doing with your life?"..... Or do you think you might criticize her choices in life and try to influence change in her lifestyle?
