What's new

Ty Corbin has been played like a fiddle

And he is either so desperate to just be a coach or too stupid to see it.

This past year he was given a roster full of players just 1 year away from their contracts expiring... Great idea!.... If you're the Heat! As long as you are competing for a championship all those FAs will swallow their pride and work for the "greater good." But we weren't a championship caliber team. Not even close. We were a competing for the broom against okc/SA team.

Instead of the FO getting something out of those free agents via midseason trades, they sat on their asses. As a result, Ty Corbin is going to be left with 2 options for the upcoming 13-14 season:

Play the resigned crap that couldn't get the job done in 12-13.
Play the "new" guys who probably aren't that good in the first place and definitely will need some time to gel. Meaning, if we let Big Al and co walk, we will have to sign new guys. Judging by the FA class this summer, I see essentially the same caliber of player as those leaving. Guys like Mo, Big Al, Millsap, etc. Not good. Even if we do a sign and trade with Millsap/Big Al, the stuff we are getting in return might not even arrive until another season or two (like draft picks). Or it will need time to gel (which could have been the 2nd half of our 12-13 season). Or The stuff in return probably won't even be as good as the stuff being traded for.

Basically, the "what should have been" 12-13 season of experimentation and development will be postponed until 13-14.

Ty Corbin has been played all because Greggie Boy wanted to squeeze a few million out of this 12-13 season via sweep against the OKC/SA. And Ty Corbin has lacked the foresight to see it. He should have used at least the 2nd half of last season to try and go through some of the growing pains that Hayward, Burks, Favors, and Kanter will have next season. He should have known that due to his contract situation that he could have missed out on the playoffs this season but **** would hit the fan if the Jazz sucked in 13-14.

Halfway through next year, when the Jazz are sucking (but trying to develop the young guys. Or sort of playing the young guys but playing on retreads signed during this summer), he will be fired.

He will take the fall for not only his own crappiness but for the FO's incompetence.

Has ty Corbin sucked? Absolutely.
But has the FO done him any favors? Hell no. Especially if it was they who forced him to play the vets in the first place. Yet... Will this FO be held accountable? I doubt it. Lets be honest, the chances of him making the playoffs next year aren't very good.

They'll fire Ty. He'll be the scapegoat. The Jazz will suck next year and miss out on the playoffs (they have such a small chance of making them it's not even funny). And we'll be back in the lottery! Maybe someday we will make the playoffs again. But it probably won't be for another 2-3 years because this FO sat on their asses for 2-3 years watching Big Al and these worthless vets rather than actually taking the bitter medicine all at once and rebuilding when they first traded Duron.

The only people that will be held accountable will be the fans. All the FO needs is some very subtle PR spin and they'll successfully have the fan base blaming themselves for the Jazz's status quo and feel guilty that we're taking for granted the fact that we have professional sports in Utah.

You making to much sense lately. Can't rep again.

If this happens and Ty comes out and says that the FO forced his hand to play the vets last season, then I'll take back much of my venom towards him. Or at least will see him as a play it safe yes man who did whatever to save his job.

But until then he sucks.

Great review.

This boat soon will became the next Bobcats (this name is available by the way) and will find themselves a lottery team for a decade for all the anti-sport decisions that were made.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to The Thriller again

Burks needs development. Kanter needs it, too. Favors, as well.
Hayward is going to be our star next year, 20 points per game + or bust.

And these guys best be in the gym right here, right now working forward to kick some ***. They've shown they can do the deed in strides, this year. I don't want Derrick Favors putting up Stromile Swift numbers again, he should be developing a work ethic.

Relegating on it, though, we can't just fill this team with a bunch of nobodies, we have to trade, sign somebody, do something with all of that cap space we have. I am not settling for some weak *** season, for the 4th straight year just because everybody in Jazzland wanted to sit on their *** and sing Tyrone Corbin the praises.

By the way, we already know Tyrone can't coach, unless Lindsey bought the Sty a Coaching For Dummies 25 Chapter Book over the offseason to read.

Odds are though we'll go out and pick up the likes of Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady. Tyrone Corbin played with both of those guys, oh my gosh I can't imagine the love he'll give them.

But until then he sucks.

This is a huge key to my take on the whole Ty Corbin debacle.

Do i think he is one of the worst coaches in the nba? Absolutely, his strategies, game management, motivation, etc has more than proven that. What I speak of is strictly the whole rotation and development part.

Management gave him a team of rentals last year. That probably wasn't the best strategy. Then, (if) they forced him to play the rentals over the future (which his future and the future of this franchise are infinitely more tied to). The FO to this point hasn't gotten ANY value out of those rentals via trade or sign and trade. They won't get much out of this summer via free agency since the market is so bad. And so after the rentals have walked, a few bandaids are signed this offseason, and the young players play next year, Corbin will be fired. But what about the FO? Will anyone be held accountable for arguably the worst management job over a span of 3 years in the entire league?

You lose your franchise player for players who have yet to start.
You lose your HOF coach and his longtime assistant.
Rentals rentals rentals over the pieces you got by trading your franchise player which equal a grand total of 4 playoff games in 3 years.
The rentals will walk, you will get nothing out of them, and now you have set your rebuilding back 2-3 years.

Literally, the last 2 years in particular, have been wastes.

Corbin has been played by the jazz's FO... Unless it was his decision or influence which kept this team of vets together and starting over he young players.

How dare you guys question the ownership or management of the Jazz. Do you realize how lucky you are to just have a team in Salt Lake? There are 20K Seattle fans wishing they had a team like the Jazz. Why if not for Larry H and his family, there would be an arena full of people cheering for the Las Vegas Gamblers night after night. And you call yourself fans. Shame, shame.

Signed,
Greg Miller

The hate for Coach Corbin and the Utah Jazz is strong with this site. RELEASE YOUR ANGER!

Hate for Ty Corbin? This thread is about hate for the FO. They have screwed Corbin over for the past 2+ years.

Ty has sucked, no doubt about it.

But the job done by the FO over the past 2 years has been atrocious. It's like me giving you an 86 Toyota Carolla and then firing you for not winning the Indy 500. At some point, it's your fault for not calling me out on my impossible task.

Just like, at some point, Ty needed to say to KOC/Lindsey/Greggie Boy:

GUYS, I CANNOT WIN WITH JOSH HOWARD OR MARVIN WILLIAMS. I CAN'T PLAY MILLSAP AND JEFFERSON TOGETHER. WHY THE HELL AREN'T YOU GETTING ME ANYTHING FOR ANY OF THESE 8 UPCOMING FREE AGENTS? I CAN'T WIN WITHOUT A PG. I NEED TO PLAY KANTER/FAVORS, WHY WON'T YOU TRADE A VET SO I CAN? TINSLEY AND WATSON DON'T BELONG IN THE NBA. MO WILLIAMS SUCKS. FOYE IS A BACKUP. etc etc etc.........

At some point, Ty Corbin needed to recognize the situation and stand up to management for giving him an impossible task. Instead, he was just "happy" to have job. Hope he's "happy" when he is fired in a few months. He will have deserved it. But IMO, someone in the FO deserves to be canned too. The last 2 years have been complete and utter wastes. Now as Jazz fans we will have to endure a 2-3 years rebuilding project which should have been done 2-3 years ago.
