Update on Tomic

I mean, if his supposed 4 year EURO contract ends when he is 28 and he is a superstar over there, he may think "Hey, I'm dominating over here. I want to try the NBA now." That would be awesome, but I'm not holding my breath.

Translated that article Bucket put up

Ante Tomic (Dubrovnik, 02.17.1987) is very close to extending its commitment to Real Madrid until June 2015 (expired in 2012, although Madrid had the option to renew for another season.) The power forward, nicknamed El Gasol and Eastern Croatian player chosen in 2009, landed in the target project Ettore Messina's hand in January 2010 from the KK Zagreb.

In his first season in white, the giant Croatian (2.17) averaged 8.5 points, 5.6 rebounds and 11 valuation was one of the nominees for disclosure of the ACB, which he will eventually take Richard Hendrix now Maccabi Tel Aviv. A year later, five Real Madrid, with numbers similar to his debut in Spain (10.1 points, 4 rebounds, 10.7 rating) has been included in the ideal of competition quintet.

With this renewal, the Real Madrid tie to one of the key pieces in its interior game. Before Tomic, the white club agreed to renew Nikola Mirotic, also through June 2015.Por Moreover, there will be time change in the quarterfinals. The first match between Real Madrid and the Fuenlabrada is ahead at 20:00. The second assault, in Fernando Martin on Sunday, will be held at 12:15 and if necessary a third party, would play in the Magic Box, 24, from Tuesday at 20:00

I guess being nick named The Gasol is the European equivalent of being compared to Michael Jordan?

He was drafted in the second round folks. Were we really expecting much anyway?

They've have had more success with their 2nd round picks than their 1st round picks. #Justsayin

But no, I wasn't expecting anything at all. He's never been committed to coming over.

Article does not address a potential buyout in the contract. Tomic does not seem to enthused about coming over, but got to believe his agent will put a decent buyout in the contract just in case.

Back in '99, the Spurs took a flyer on 22 year old Manu Ginobili, despite his lengthy contract that scared away every other NBA team. I don't think they regret taking that chance, nor having to wait three years for him to get to San Antonio.

Funny, took about 3 years for Splitter to come over, then Popovich decides not to play him. Hard to questions Pops, but this was definitely a mistake.

If Tomic doesn't want to come over, its because he knows he can't bang with the big boys. At least he is smart enough to have figured it out, and doesn't throw away several years of his career away like most other Euros.

It probably has more to do with he would make less money and get less playing time and not be as popular.

You're both wrong - it's because Tomic knows the Jazz will draft Kanter and he doesn't want to sit on the bench behind a future hall-of-famer :D

His team lost and he only had 6 rebounds, but he led his team with 23 V's. Does anyone know what a V is?

Walt Perrins remarks this week were not encouraging, when do we give up on this guy?

V is their player efficiency type rating so 23 is very very good. This was his last game of the season it looks like. They lost in the semis. Time to hit the weight room and come on over if we go small in the draft.

My whole Tomic expectations were rooted in the fact that the Spurs liked him a lot. I never had the delusion that he would come over here and rip it up, but I thought he could be a decent backup at least. I think it's kind of a bummer we won't be able to see what he can do.

So this is an actual guy you guys have been talking about the entire time? I thought it was a really hot pepper that's only sold in Europe or something.

Yes, the man of mystery is real, but alas he may remain aloof from us.
