What's new

Utah Jazz 2025 Preseason

Main takeaways:
** Keyonte is more confident and assertive with the ball. He's got some burst and can change speeds. He's not forcing shots very often. He doesn't have enough shake to beat guys off the dribble consistently, which limits his playmaking.
** Yes, Brice can shoot. He's limited as a self-creator because he's a bit slow. He's looking to score rather than pass, which has had the effect of reducing his turnovers.
** Hendricks is a 3D guy. He'll wait on the wing and hopefully start crashing for rebounds like he used to. But the added weight is slowing him down and making him less bouncy. I'm not sure why he felt the need to gain 30+ lbs. He could end up straining his back and his hamstring the way Derrick Favors did. He could drop 15 lbs and be fine.
** Walter Clayton has poise and a nice pace to his game. His passes have natural rhythm and timing. He may be an effective PG if he has enough space to work with and a big who knows how to set screens. He's better than the average backup.
** Jazz will probably give Cody two more years to develop. I think his path is to keep improving his physicality and focus on team defense. He's showing strides in that area. His offensive limitations will probably just make him a lesser scoring option than natural talents like Ace and Brice. His 3pt shooting will probably at 30% or a bit above, but he needs to get up to 36% by next year.
** Nurkic is the perfect stabilizing, playmaking big to support our young guys on offense. Less so on defense.

Jazz are still a 20-win team. They don't have Sexton to make clutch plays and Collins to grab big rebounds this year. Walker's situation is a big question mark. Jazz's lack of on-ball creation is a huge issue.

Looks like Flip may be penciled in as the starter, though it doesn't look like he's in great shape right now. So Keyonte / Ace / Lauri / Flip / Walker should be the starters next week.

I'm down with that lineup. Looked pretty good last night with the 3 mammoth white bigs out there together

Great display of the kind of athleticism he possesses. He is ripped as well. Body looks great. Muscular and zero fat
When he came into the league he looked a little chubby. No longer

BTW, I didn't include Nurk because I was focusing on the young guys, but go look at his numbers, he won the preseason.
