What's new

Utah Jazz @ Dallas Mavericks Friday 1/27 6:30pm (MT)

What's the most frustrating is that we're seeing some promise from the 4 lottery picks, but nothing "great." I still fear we'll be left with #4-#5-type starters or backups.

At this point, I'm neither here nor there on Miles. Fine with me if we trade him. I'm a broken record, but this team could be quite good with a dynamic PG and a multi-talented scoring wing.

The bad....
Have up 55% shooting and 11/19 from deep
Out rebounded by 11.......
Jefferson is a lazy black hole...29 minutes-19 shots-6 rebounds
No speed to keep up with Beaubois....
Pick and roll D is horrible... Bad rotations all game
Evans - 7 min - 1 block... That's it and nothis else
Howard and CJ... Volume shooter like Al and both very off

outside of the 5 and 4 position, we are arguably one of the worst teams in the whole league. time to change something, use this trade player exception and use everyone except millsap, burks, favors and kanter via trade. i'm sick of seeing bell and harris on the floor. i expected bigger impact from hayward this year, he simply sucks. at least jefferson plays well sometimes.

hopefully 'the turtle' corbin will have the balls to sit bell, hayward and harris on the bench. they are useless and no way they are starting caliber players (except harris maybe). just start burks, miles and watson/harris. give millsap and jefferson 30 minutes per game and 18-20 minutes for each favors and kanter.

the only positive thing about this team is burks, millsap, favors and kanter. try to get rid of the whole rest!

We had no energy in this game because Ty didn't manage the team very well in the last game. You can't expect Millsap to have a ton of energy after playing 49 minutes.

What's the most frustrating is that last year's lottery picks show no significant improvement over where they were at this time last season. And this year's picks have shown to date that they might be ok, but nothing special. If Utah has *&^% up those picks and the DWill trade by getting ZERO prospects who become top-tier starters, the franchise is screwed.

I think Hayward has shown improvement in his overall game. His shooting just isn't there.

I think Favors has shown a lot of improvement defensively. I think his offense is struggling this year because him and Kanter are so raw they don't really know how to play off of each other.

Jefferson had some nice passes tonight. His lack of rebounding really hurt though. He looked slow tonight. Probably his ankle is still bothering him.

Kanter's numbers per 36 were 35pts, 21bds, 3stls, 3blks, shooting 63%; he had a +9 differential (best on the team) and was the main reason the Jazz cut the lead down. Played exceptional pick-and-roll D. The starters played lethargically. This was easily Kanter's best game. He still made a few rookie mistakes, but overall he was the bright spot tonight. Burks penetrated and dished nicely toward the end as well.

Wait.... I mean someone keeps saying that we need a tighter rotation down to 8 players though.... Who needs rest?

Kanter can be an be a decent post defender, solid rebounder and scoring threat in the post. He's looking like the player the Jazz wanted to draft last year. If he develops a jumper and hook shot, he could be special. If he hits the gym, he could be one of the biggest physical presences in the league.

Favors is above average on defense and rebounding and can play either front court position. He just needs to decide how he wants to score. The talent is there and he's putting in work, but he needs to develop his moves. I'm afraid he might pick up some of Al Jefferson's bad habits.

Hayward's shooting should improve. It has to.

Buks is a nice talent.

Not to make excuses, but even D.Will didn't do all that much his first two years in the league.
