What's new

Utah Jazz Media Day 2018

Not at our media day, but the new Houston owner talked a lot about luxury tax. I was somewhat surprised they didn't bring back Ariza or LMM. They also played hardball with Capela and CP3 (kind of).

I think that team takes a significant step back unless they land Jimmy Butler... I could see them selling off some parts to limit this year's tax and future obligations. The owner sunk most of his wealth into the team, so he's not really a mega billionaire like some of the owners.

Yeah dude must be horrible to not be a mega billionaire, perhaps a mere billionaire and own an NBA team... I believe this may be the definition of luxury's disappointments

I just mean he is more payroll sensitive than some of the other owners... it has been a hindered other teams like the Suns and made a meaningful on court difference. Normally when teams are that close they spend without thinking twice... Houston may operate more like a small market team from now on.

Former Jazzman Raul Lopez has been hired to the staff and is at practice today helping with drills. Pictures of him posted by the usual twitter reporters.

Full time staff member this season it appears.
