What's new

Utah Jazz @ Milwaukee Bucks, 6:30pm mst

This is a solid win. Started off bad, but the team really got after it. Not great stats, but look at the rebounds.
Jazz really did the job on the boards. Everyone contributed and I think that was the key to the game.

Despite the insistence to put Okur in the game for the beginning of the fourth quarter, only to add to his team-worst +/- (by far, despite only 13 minutes of court time), at least Sloan had enough sense to use one of the combos that work most: DW-CJ-AK-PM-AJ.

This is the best lineup that I would reasonably predict that Sloan would use (and predicted to work on page 1), and at least CJ was wisely played more than Bell was (also recommended in this thread), given that CJ was doing better.

If such an approach to playing time (giving a player a minimum 10 minutes like is being given to Mediokur--and more PT if he's doing well) were afforded to Fes, Hayward, and Evans, at least when the matchups indicated it, these young players would be further along.

This is the second of two games since MO's return that the time when he has been on the court has been a signifcant negative out there--to the tune of double digits (obviously not all on him). Fortunately tonight's opponent wasn't as talented.

Two private notes for Al: 1) Go to the glass on offense. Numerous times tonight you're playing the break when you absolutely didn't need to. 2) USE YOUR BODY getting set. It's silly not to use that body backing guys down for position. I'm sick of seeing so many touches start 10-12 feet from the hoop.

This place is great after a win: dead silence.

After a loss: total meltdown.

:)

Nice bounce-back game for us. Slow start again, but what else is new? I thought Coach Sloan did a good job of finding matchups and using them - especially Frank. Loving his play more and more. And I didn't think Memo was all that bad either for a guy coming off achilles surgery. I think its important to get him some good minutes to get him back into game shape and get his confidence back, because he is a very important part of this team going forward this season. LOVED that he got him a 3! It's going to be nice to see him and Elson off the bench as the primary PF/C backups the rest of the way. Bell really needs to pick it up offensively if he wants to be in the game in the 4th. I don't have a problem with him as the starter, but I think it's pretty telling that Coach Sloan has CJ in most of the time in the 4th. It's not who starts the game, its who finishes.

Plus for Harp as broadcaster when he said: "That's why so few guys in the NBA want Maggette on their team." I don't care how true it is. But the whole point of Harp on the telecast is getting info that only he would have. On the downside, it just sounded like Harp has an axe to grind with Maggette since he kept after that point. But it was the rare moment when Harp the Man wasn't Harp the broadcaster which I liked.
