I think you may be viewing this much like climbing a ladder -- that the farther you climb, the farther you will fall, should you slip off one of the rungs. As you've fallen head-over-heels for Donovan, you're afraid of the ramifications that now you're looking down at that massive drop and all those small people and cars scurrying around beneath you, and acrophobia is setting in.
The fact is, this is still Gobert's team. As much as Donovan has the national media attention and brought a spotlight to us, this is still the Gobert show. When Gobert signed his extension, and Hayward showed no commitment and waffled on an extension, Rudy went on a massive stretch where it was apparent that he communicated to Hayward that this was his team, and he snatched it right up from under him. Donovan came in and was able to help further our cause. He said the right things. Maybe he's not the savior we presume, but while you're looking at that terrifying fall below, the rest of us are enjoying the excellent vantage point of being above the smog of the city, and if or when we eventually tumble, it will be okay because we would have gotten hit by that bus down there had we not soared to these great new heights.
