Utah Jazz Select Walter Clayton Jr, Pick 18 (Trade)

You’re funny.

commited never trumper for over a decade.

Lube up your sense of humor a bit.

And btw, my family is biracial.

Not my intent to make you look stupid.
Sorry man didn’t realize you were making a joke. Hard to tell when there is no set up or punchline, and only commentary on people’s race.

I’ll start lubing up my sense of humor right away! *turns on old Full House episodes*

Ha! “Cut - it - Out!!” Classic!!

Loved this pick on draft night and liking it even more as I watch more of him.

He's just a special offensive player. Elite balance, body control, and pace. No wasted movements. We'll have to figure out how to manage him defensively but I think he's our starting PG this season.

Kind of funny that WCJ also didn't workout for the Jazz. Given that the Jazz obviously really liked him, they must have tried to bring him in. No one is talking about it because of the Ace situation.

Pretty obvious he wanted to go to the Heat as well. I get that there’s this drama/side story with Ace….but from the Jazz perspective you just take the guy you want most. They did that in both situations.

everybody is entitled to their opinion, but there is next to zero chance, assuming everybody is healthy and no trades, etc, clayton starts the season over collier at point.

Collier is like the only guy on the roster with any conscience other than Filipowski. Everyone else is a "the possession ends here" blackhole, including Clayton. Collier has to play as much as possible for the team to even get into sets.

Clayton is an elite shooter while Collier is maybe below average
Collier is maybe better passer but Clayton is such a good shooter Collier may have to split time with him
Clayton may not start but he will get plenty of minutes

No ****, Clayton is probably a better player, but Collier is literally the only perimeter player on the roster who can pass at all and get the team into sets. He has to play as Clayton and Keyonte and Sexton and Sensabaugh and Ace and Lauri and Collins and Clarkson and everyone else is so bad at passing.

Collier is probably a better passer but WCJ is still a playmaker, floor general, and his shooting is worlds better. His college AST #'s were pretty much identical with a much better A / TO ratio. My guess is he looks for his own offense first partly because he was Florida's best offensive weapon by a country mile.

I'm not saying he starts at PG Day 1 but I do sense he gets there at some point this season. Partly just because I'm not that high on Collier.

He will be by the end of the year if not the start. He's a better player, a higher pick, and older. Not to mention the Jazz moved up to get him and internally expressed him as their dream target with the 2nd pick

I’m good with having both and letting them compete for roles and minutes. Hopefully, competition makes them BOTH rise to the occasion.

i won't argue with that - i think it's absolutely a possibility.

two things - i think collier's improvement is going to be substantial in year two, and i think clayton while naturally a combo guard, has better point skills than most realize.

not trying to make a point by saying that, i just think we're going to have a situation where we have two really good potential lead guards on this roster. also summer league should be fun.

I agree Collier played great and deserves playing time this year
He made quantum leap improvement during the season which is hard to do

WCJ at PG would be funny.

We should play

WCJ
Sensabaugh
Ace
Lauri
Hendricks

Just five snipers who are all so incredibly bad in terms of BBIQ that we can't execute any sets.

What happens when every player on the court is a blackhole with no skills other than hitting 43% from three.

you're over shooting this one. clayton isn't a traditional pg of course, but he is absolutely a good and willing passer who played mostly point on the national championship team. he averaged 4+ assists and had a 23% assist rate which is pretty good.
