What's new

Utah Jazz vs. Atlanta Hawks (6pm MST/9pm Puerto Ricoooo time)

I seriously wouldn't overreact to 1 game of reduced Exum minutes. Sometimes that's all it takes for a message to be delivered/received. Dante's a quick study, he'll be fine.

1 game?

It's 2. And they were both blowouts.

Yeah 2 games, my bad. The message likely being sent is Quinn wants him at the FT line more, especially if his 3pt shot isn't falling, it's not a big deal.

Also I noticed in the opening games that Exum and Diaw are slightly redundant. It's possible that has something to do with his reduced minutes and the uptick in Diaws play the last 2 games(though obviously he was long overdue)

Hill is just such a perfect match for the Jazz. Don't get why some folks worry about Exum, as long as we have Hill and Gobert on the Jazz we will be making playoffs every freaking year.

Yeah, the same was said of Corbin.

If Corbin was still the coach, Exum wouldn't have started any games after Hill got injured, then once hill got back, Exum would've gone back to his assumed role under Corbin which would've been a bench wormer. So I'm not sure how the two correlate.

It's not 1 game. It's 2nd game and from Quin's remarks after the game it seems like he's set on a rotation and Exum is out of it ... for now...

Yeah, and it's not like this was some big surprise, with the way Quin has overused Mack. I kind of expected it. Hopefully Exum steps up his game when he gets a chance to play, but this really doesn't look good right now. Dante just missed an entire season, and he really needs the minutes to develop.

Have the jazz had any close games so far this year? I can't think of any that were within like 3 or so points in the final minute.

We are generally winning by more than we are losing, but not many close games.

2 games within 5 points with 2 minutes left, Griz and Blazers. Lost both.

2 minute report, there were 2 bad calls, both favored the Jazz. So the whole "we got screwed by the refs" narrative is gone (so far).

Something that people are maybe missing on thus far this season - Hayward's offball movement and cuts. It's sublime right now! He's getting this backdoor cut alley-oop on a whim right now... overall the breaks on his cuts and changes of direction are so sharp and precise. I don't think I've ever seen him cut like that before.

I don't have a problem with a coach trying to make a point by setting a player's *** on the bench when he screws up. But he needs to enforce it uniformly for all players in every game. You can't let a Diaw go through the motions, while punishing Gobert or Exum for doing the same.

It's probably easier for Quin to bench the youngsters. He gives the benefit of the doubt to a veteran like Diaw. A veteran probably responds more poorly to a benching than a 2nd year player, which Dante basically is.

The last time Exum played he was part of a lineup that blew a huge lead against the Nuggets. I think it's more of just a motivation thing to bench him for a game or two.
