Utah Trade Deadline Discussion

I mean, he's making 20 million dollars this year. And another 19 million next year. That's a loss?

For a guy in his 30's, yes. He could have had more money for more years. That is likely his last big contract. After that he will be playing for the league minimum if at all.

Hill took a chance that his BFF, Hayward, had his back and would demand Utah give him $100m (or more) to return, as a condition for Gordon returning. Not only did Hill get bad advice from his agent, he didn't realize the only true friend Hayward has is Stevens.

With the turmoil/uncertainty surrounding CLE, I would consider targeting a late 1st for any combination of Rubio/Burks/JJ/Jerebko/Udoh with the intention of adding it to Hood/Favors as part of an offer for the BKN 1st + 1 of their bad contract.

CLE would likely be wise to hang on to the pick but considering the difficult situation their currently in, this trade could make some sense for them as Favors & Hood would help them win now (& appear to fit), while the latter isn't necessarily a 1 year rental.

Which would provide the team some security if LBJ leaves. As would the additional late 1st. Plus, they would rid themselves of a bad contract. Maybe you include O'Neale as well if that tips the scale, though I'd prefer to hang on to him.

It may be unrealistic but I believe it's worth a shot as I feel entering the draft with 2 potential lottery picks would open up multiple possibilities & greatly increase our odds of finding another young, cost-controlled, elite talent to solidify our long-term core.

If you really want the Brooklyn pick it's a simple thing to get. Rudy Gobert or Donovan Mitchell. If you're not willing to part with either of those guys you can forget about the Brooklyn pick. Seriously there's really no reason to talk about the Brooklyn pick the Jazz aren't getting it.

The only way the Cleveland (Bkn) pick is in play at all would be if Lebron told the team he'd stay if they used it to make a trade. The trad that would make LEbron say something like that is probably more like Paul George than Favors. I do think the actual Cleveland pick might be on the table for Favors or Hood.

3 years at a flat 17M is a better contract than Hood will get. Even if Rod gets a 4 deal starting at 15M I think the extra year makes it a worse deal based on his injury issues.

It's not guaranteed to be a better deal that Hood will get and yeah team options for frequently injured players should be pushed for.

I think Fournier could be had for little even if Hood walks for nothing since he may be a slightly negative asset to Orlando.

Some are sure that if we throw enough nickels and dimes at Cleveland they will give us the dollar.

Ain’t happening.

The catch 22 is they don't have nearly enough to win this year without cashing in that pick, and getting ousted early in the playoffs might cause him to leave for sure.

Agree with Alt and Handlogten. Getting Favs and Hood isn't enough to guarantee Cleveland a title.
Now what Hood and Favors MIGHT get you with Cleveland is the right to swap the Utah and Bkn picks. But, how do you make salaries match?

Edit: nope, I take that back. Cleveland would have to be insane to trade a possible top-5 pick. They could be drafting a franchise player. That's worth a lot more than an expiring, a fringe starter and an unknown prospect.

Cavs - Favors, Hood
Utah - Frye, Shumpert, the right to swap the BKN and Utah picks
