Utah Trade Deadline Discussion

Not sure. Maybe we trade JoeJ, our 2nd and a future 2nd for Bradley? The Clippers get something for him without having to take back a contract.

I’m going to go ahead and say we aren’t going to trade for Bradley. He had a sexual abuse hush money thing from earlier this season and I’m not sure the organization could be down with that. Tough to match contracts and I wouldn’t give anything of real value for a rental

Only thing I can think of that makes sense for Utah on Bradley is an AB-AB swap. Don't see how it makes sense for Clippers, though.

Could sell them on the fact that AB is a stand-up guy would never have to pay hush money for anything. But, then again, the Clippers did have Ruben Patterson.

What would we give up for Bradley, and would he come off the bench?

I was watching an NBA video cast (I can't recall which one) and they would not get into details but they both mentioned that there are some off court rumors regarding Bradley. They smiled and decided they would not go into the details because it wasn't pertinent to their current discussion. But they seemed to indicate that it was impacting his trade value.

So Orlando is looking to dump contracts. If they are looking to shed, maybe we get involved in a lesser sense than Fournier, Gordon or Biyombo.

JoeJ, Thabo and a 2nd for Jonathon Simmons and Terrence Ross. Simmons is on a cheap deal through 2019-20 and Ross expires after next year.

Why for Orlando - they shed $17+ in contracts since JoeJ and Thabo are expirings. This trade completes their tank and they can re-sign Gordon without any financial hesitation.

Why for us: this trade provides an easy green light to trade Hood for a first rounder. By adding Simmons and Ross to a certain degree, Hood is more expendable. Simmons and Ross give us more than just Hood and they combine to make about what Hood would get this summer. And don't forget the pick Hood gets us....

Nothing has changed. Hood still needs to be traded. Paying him long-term is a mistake because it's going to be an overpay no matter what. Even if we're lucky and he only gets Ingles type money it's an overpay for what he consistently provides. And letting him walk for nothing is also a mistake. We need to get whatever assets we can get right now and move on. He's missed most of this winning streak anyway. We fine without him. Royce is balling.
If we are pushing for the playoffs, then dumping Favors or Hood for a 1st round pick is a mistake. Wait for the summer and do sign-and-trades. And who knows, with many teams struggling for cap space, maybe we can re-sign both of them for the mid-level exception price.

What do people think of this:

JoeJ, Thabo and our 2nd
for
Simmons and Ross

Then

Hood to Chicago for 2018 NOLA 1st

Sign Niang to an O'Neale type contract to occupy our 15th roster spot and help in the post with absence of JoeJ.

I'm fairly certain DL's already operating with a green light to trade Hood for a first rounder. No real reason to get $17M worth of players who are performing fairly poorly.

Taking Ross' contract is the price for getting Simmons who is a fantastic switch defender and athlete for the perimeter. Simmons will be in high demand the next couple days. Teams like OKC are already rumored after Simmons.

If we are trying to make the playoffs, Ross and Simmons help us. If we don't want Hood long term, we can trade him without hesitation if we have the depth Simmons and Ross provide.
