No, I didn't want to strangle him because I knew he was going to do it. I watched him stand next to the ref and signal for it. I also thought he was going to do it a third time. Do the rules permit it? Yes. Is it bush league? If you say so.
I was there (didn't have the luxury of TV commentary) so it took it a few seconds to figure out what happened each time. We Lost!, wait... no... We won! Hang on, still no. Oh for cripesakes! I didn't like it either. Ice the kicker once, fine. But I am not a fan of the multiple last-second timeouts.
I'm not sure who you think is thumping their balls (that would hurt), but to me, most Ute fans seem to be having roughly the same reaction: Ugly, yes, but a win. We will need to improve in several areas as the season progresses. I don't remember anyone declaring Ute supremacy or predicting a Nat'l Championship.

I'll give it a shot (let me know how I do):
-As far as Pitt and their #15 ranking: For the most part I think pre season rankings are complete and utter garbage and should be done away with all together. With that being said, I think Pitt has some freakish atheletes on their team, I expect them to compete for the Big East title and I wouldn't be suprised to see them in a semi-decent bowl game. What does that translate to in regards to end of season rankings? Your guess is as good as mine I would suppose.
-One thing we do know for certain about Pitt: Their RB is a beast and Utah's front 7 shut him completely down. I don't see how even the most bitter BYU fan can spin that. Utah's run D is the truth.
-I don't know if Utah should have "probably" lost, but I would certainly say that they easily could have. However, just about everything that went against Utah was self-inflicted mental mistakes. Had they lost, they would have had nobody to blame but themselves. When Utah was not self-destructing, they clearly outplayed Pitt.
-I think what Whitt did with the "icing" situation was silly but I think most haters are trying to overblow it. Even Whitt admitted afterwords that it was a pretty silly thing to do. I really wouldn't worry about trying to make it a big issue because in reality, it's not.
So in summary, here's my "intellectually honest" opinion of my team after their 1st game:
Even amidst Utah's sef destruction, I saw a lot of things I was happy about that quite frankly were question marks before the game started. Most notably, Utahs' WR and LB's really stepped up. Overall, I think the Front 7 is going to be devestating all season long. I think overall Utah has a the chance to be a very good team in 2010 and that makes me pretty damned happy considering their relative youth.

I will reply to part. No we should not have lost. Without some 1st game jitters by the Utes that game is a blow out. Utah completely dominated the game and only the mistakes even gave Pitt a shot.

When did Versus start doing that campus cam thing? Now that's more annoying than Whit's timeouts. If I wanted a couple of rotund Pittsburgh coeds bouncing around on my TV screen every few minutes during the game, I would pop in a Girl's Gone Wild DVD.
