Utah's long journey to relevance

The main points of this article have been in the back of my mind for a while. However, I'm really not attached to any of these guys except Gobert because of unique skill-set. I love Favors, Hayward, Burks and Hood but I'd be all for trading any and all of them if it made the team better.

The one thing I do know is if The Jazz push the re-set button like they did 3 years ago without bringing back equal or better talent then I'm gone for good. I imagine anyone who values their time would do the same.

I agree the most special allstar can be Gobert AS LONG AS HE STAYS HEALTHY. That is my only concerns with bigs.

Hayward - really tough call. Probably 30th best player in the NBA who may peak at #20 or so. Since he is a UFA after next season, if we can get something good I'd go for it. I have no idea what Hayward is thinking but if money was no longer an issue for me, I would want to win. I assume he will leave after next year unless winning is right in front of him. He almost said that in the article above.

Hood - I would not trade. Him and Gobert are my only locks.

Don't you think we should take a punt on one of the PGs in this draft?

Well they have 4 picks in the draft so sure why not.

Jamal Murray or Kris Dunn depending on where the pick lands would be no-brainers in the 1st.

They could have their eye on a few PG's worthy of being selected in the 2nd, ya never know who declares - Maybe Jawun Evans, Marcus Paige, Tyler Ulis, Kahlil Felder, Monte Morris or even if Isaiah Briscoe, Malik Newman or Wade Baldwin were to fall to the 2nd.

Maybe Olivier Hanlan's ready by then too? he's shooting 40% from 3 and can play some PG. There will be plenty of options.

I cant believe the lack respect Favor gets Jazzfanz? Someone please tell me why a top 8 PF has no respect?

Exactly ... lots of options for PGs this year.

Trading Hayward for a pick would mean the failure of this rebuild, unless the pick explodes, and he explodes fast. He is so integral to our offense, that we'd probably struggle to win 20 games without him.

If you want to swing for the fences, you trade Favors. Most likely, the Jazz will continue to sign marginal players, and allow players to walk once salary demands become too high.

Unless we can get Ingram, I wouldn't trade Hayward.

Or acknowledging the failure of this rebuild has already happened. Once Exum got hurt and Kanter got butt hurt our two best chances at a super duper star were already gone.

Just because a rebuild fails or has to be retooled doesn't necessarily mean FO people are at fault. Injuries has been big for the Jazz and as Hayward stated contracts are shorter so the windows are much shorter for management. A lot of decisions and money already invested in Hayward, Favors, and Burks plus more due Gobert, Burke, and Hood in the next season or two. With Hayward looking at UFA trading him makes sense.

Favors is equally as good as Hayward maybe even better and on a better deal. Between the two IMO you trade Hayward.
