3: Milsap, Miles, AK (for 5 mil or less per year--could start when healthy. Just can't bank on it)

I would LOVE it if Burks was somehow able to fit in as a combo guard like Wade or Stuckey. If he can guard opposing 1s, we could used him as a slasher, penetrator on offense but run the offense primarily through Hayward.

True, but generally someone getting blocks is actually playing defense.
It's rare to have a guy blocking shots that is not playing D.
On the flip side there can be guys playing good D that do not get many blocks.

Stoudemire and Jefferson were in the top ten in blocks last year.

Ok, I did some digging, and it has to do with the plus/minus so take what you will from this.
I took the +/- for the whole year, and the minutes played, then divided the +/- by the minutes played, and then multiplied that by 100 for ease of use.

This is what I found, we outscored opponents when the following players were on the floor.
Fesenko, 8.33 pts per 100 minutes.
Miles, 2.69 pts per 100.
Price, 1.39 pts per 100.
Watson, 0.70 pts per 100.
Sap, 0.61 pts per 100

Opponents outscored the Jazz when the following players were on the floor.

Kirilenko, -1.65 per 100
DWill, -2.49 per 100
Harris, -2.64 per 100
Evans, -3.24 per 100
Al, -5.71 per 100
Elson, -9.67 per 100
Bell, -10.16 per 100
Hayward -16.01 per 100
Favors -18.24 per 100
Okur -19.64 per 100
Cousin -94.44 per 100

What this tells me is...... nothing.

Also tells you that D-Will's extra millions in salary was worth all of 0.15 points per 100 possessions.

And it also shows that Sap was arguably the Jazz's best player last year (as scary as that might seem) given that he had a positive +/- per 100 even though he got starter minutes. Kirilenko is a distant second to that; he was best of the (harmful) worst.

P.S. Usually the opposition puts in garbage players, too, so the claim about "garbage time" is something akin to . . . garbage. And if the opposition didn't, then it makes the positive performance of garbage-time players even more noteworthy.
