VICTORY!!! LPGA to change policy on ‘female at birth’

Winning a long drive competition is not that significant, IMO. Being an ex cop is irrelevant, no? Again, if the player steps in and dominates, I'm guessing some reevaluation would occur. But until then, it's all academic.

Not significant? She won $250,000 dollars. How would you feel if you took second?

Arch, slow it down a second. I assumed that you would be able to view my reply in it's proper context, but you did not.

We weren't discussing the long drive contest specifically, as I understood it. I thought we were discussing this golfer's status in the LPGA. Therefore, I assumed - wrongly, I guess - that you were referencing that LDC as an example of competitive advantage. I had no idea you were talking solely about the paycheck for winning said contest. For this I have no response, because I do not care.

However, if we had been following the trail of thought that I was on, I would explain that, of all sports, golf is probably the one in which being born male offers the least advantage. Golf is much more about skill and strategy than strength. But you are probably not interested in that anyway.

Fair enough, but I don't see why you're telling me to "slow down" and "I wouldn't be interested". I'm up for discussing it.

"Slow down" just because you hit that tangent so fast. It appeared you weren't interested in the line of discussion I was taking.

Don't act like that wasn't from you. I change my mind to a pro-transgender, pro-female stance and you come along with your typical homophobic and sexist commentary. How dare you get after someone for promoting equal opportunity for women. I would be honored to be a Jazz fan while they play the first ever female player in an NBA game. But not you, no. It's all suppression and hate. You should be stripped of your moderator duties and immediately banished to arguing with Hopper on One Brow's pig pen.

If competitive equity was completely destroyed, or if (in a very unlikely scenario) a sport came to be dominated by a group of transgendered individuals to the extent that females-at-birth were functionally precluded from participating then there's a stronger argument for exclusion or creation of a special division. I don't know if that would happen or if it has ever happened.

That's not where we are today.

I agree. As I stated before, I don't believe that we would see any real advantage materialize, anyway. Ex cop or not.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to franklin again.

I wouldn't want to date someone who was transgender. I also wouldn't necessarily want to date someone who was black. I also would not particularly care to date someone who is polynesian. I am fully prepared to be flamed.

The interesting thing is, one of my very best friends is openly gay and several of my closest friends are black. My brother-in-law is mixed race, my cousin is korean, my other brother-in-law is mexican. And it doesn't end there.

And if my daughter wanted to marry someone who was black and my son found happiness with a transgendered individual I would welcome them into my family with open arms.

But everyone is entitled to their own preferences without being labeled for them. No one should be forced to go against their own preferences just to prove they are pro-whatever. People should be just as tolerant of other people's preferences as everyone is expected to be of everyone else's race, religion, gender, sexual preference, or whatever.

Of course if one's preferences leads one to do harm to others, that is another argument entirely. I am just addressing the whole "would you date" comment.

But to hell with purple people, unless they are suffocating, then help them.

Good post. I tried to rep you, but I must spread some first. I wish spreading rep was as fun as spreading herpes.
