Voter Suppression and Why The Republicans Love It So Much?

does anyone else experience this? I can't see embedded media, i mean it's straight up blank. But if i reply to it then I can see it, once. If I navigate away and come back then I can't see it again. Only happening on mobile. Drives me nuts.
Don't know what changed for me but it's not happening anymore. Used to.

The freshman Republican lawmaker said she and one of her staffers were leaving the Capitol in an elevator recently when a Capitol Police officer “with fret all over his face” ran toward the elevator in an unsuccessful attempt to stop it.

"I look to my left and there she is: Ilhan Omar,” Boebert said. “And I said, ‘Well, she doesn’t have a backpack. We should be fine,’" Boebert said, sparking cheers.

Boebert claimed she then told Omar, D-Minn., who is Muslim: ‘Oh, look, the jihad squad decided to show up for work today.’”

In response to video of the comments circulating on social media, Omar accused Boebert of fabricating the story.

“Fact, this buffoon looks down when she sees me at the Capitol, this whole story is made up,” Omar tweeted Thursday night. “Sad she thinks bigotry gets her clout.

“Anti-Muslim bigotry isn’t funny & shouldn’t be normalized,” the Minnesota congresswoman added. “Congress can’t be a place where hateful and dangerous Muslims tropes get no condemnation.”

Here's text of what she said.

So this is pretty insane: https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-loving-former-kkk-leader-131032176.html

Chester Doles, a former leader of the Ku Klux Klan and the neo-Nazi National Alliance, is running for office as a Republican in Georgia, per The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Doles, who spent decades in the KKK, including as Maryland's Grand Klaliff, filed paperwork earlier this year to run for a spot on the Lumpkin County Board of Commissioners in 2022, the paper reported.

He served four years in prison in 1993 after being convicted on federal charges related to the beating of a Black man in Maryland. In 2003, he was arrested on federal firearms charges and spent four more years in prison.

The paper said that Doles also had been linked to the Hammerskins — a white-supremacist "skinhead" group.

He marched with the group in the 2017 Unite the Right rally, the deadly white supremacist demonstration in Charlottesville, Virginia, according to The Washington Post.

In 2019, Doles described himself as a "fourth-generation Klansman."

He said that his politics is now "in line with all Republicans" and added that he's a supporter of Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution describes Doles as an "ardent supporter" of former President Donald Trump.

Also had another stint in prison for some kind of weapons charge.
You would think all that would be enough to make him lose but he is running for office in a conservative town so its pretty much a lock he will win.

One would think the GOP wouldn’t want a representative like him. But now I’m pretty sure they’ll have no problem helping him win and welcoming him to the team

Our democracy is really in trouble. I don’t think enough people are worried about it. And I don’t believe Democrats are making it a priority either. Ominous times ahead…

Sorry you have to keep quoting me just to read the comment. Maybe @Jason could look into this glitch? I post using an iPad, and in mobile mode. I don’t know, obviously, what is causing this glitch….The glitch in question: LogGrad98 cannot read my comments without first hitting the “reply” button.

Agreed. I don’t see enough sense of urgency. Especially given Republican obstructionism and how close we are to the 2022 midterms. I’m not an optimist, at least it does not always come easily, and right now I do not have confidence a voting rights bill will be passed by this Congress. We’re all used to seeing the party not in the Oval Office take control of Congress in the midterms. I cannot imagine, or maybe I can but would rather not, what that will be like this time around. A new Jan. 6 committee focused on proving the insurrectionists were heros? Seems likely. Post Truth applied to Jan. 6th. One of our 3 branches focused on alternative, fictional “realities”. How not to address our nation’s pressing needs….instead, the drumbeats leading to theft in 2024.
