Warriors and Jazz Mega Trade

Good post... but I can't help but notice the artificial dialing back of optimism.. imo, now is precisely the time to partake of the kool-aid.

I don't know enough about the 2014 prospects to really get excited about them because it's highly unlikely we're bad enough for Wiggins or Parker.

What I am PSYCHED for though is finally getting to watch the young guys play! 30+ minutes every single night for Burke, Burks, Hay, D-Fav, and Kanter is going to be so much fun. The last couple of years have taught me that winning with boring basketball and players you don't like is overrated. Bring on the tank!

What do you think the "cut off" point is in the 2014 draft where it becomes more or less equal to any other draft? That is my main worry. If you miss the cut off point, not only do you miss out on a good player, but the trade value of it becomes pretty much worthless.

I haven't gone so far as to have created a big board.. but I would say that answer is easily 20... but how do you compare? I mean, I think the 20 looks like the average 11/12.

But we also can't underestimate having two 1sts in what will become the most highly pimped drafts ever... assets. Move up? Trade for a player??? I think its a massive powerplay.

Warriors trade Andris Biedrins, Richard Jefferson, Brandon Rush, 2014 unprotected first round pick, 2017 unprotected first round pick, and two future second round picks to the Jazz for Kevin Murphy.

I continue seeing conflicted info on whether the picks are unprotected.. is it for sure???

Also, I think Rush has great upside for the jazz.. way underrated.

Excuse my newbie ignorance but you can trade a $788K guy for a $4M guy, $9M guy, $11M guy and 2 draft picks?

I am not complaining because we will be loaded with picks in a talented year. And maybe we can showcase one of these guys and get a trade for another draft pick from a team looking to make the playoffs.
But I thought contracts had to match within a certain amount.

Only if both teams are over the salary cap. In this case, the Jazz are far below the cap, so there is no matching salaries requirement.

Me too.. forreal.

But I know the 14 players very well... and its deserving of every bit of the hype.
I've been talking up the 14 class for 3 years... and have been also pimping the 17... with 15 and 16 being relatively weak.

The '14 class is very reminiscent of the '03 draft, with a lot of franchise talent up top but the difference is the '14 draft has talent all through the draft. Wiggins (LeBron), Parker (Carmelo), Randle (Bosh), Exum (Wade), not to mention the Harrison brothers and James Young who are getting vastly underrated right now by mock draft sites. WCS, Marcus Smart, GRIII, and Gary Harris (to an extent) are all players that would have been in the lottery this year that returned to school just making the draft class that much stronger.

I agree. If Rush can return to form, he's the sneaky upside pick for best asset we got in return.

I don't know if all of you have seen this, but 2 years ago he averaged:

9.8 pts on 50.1% from the field, 45.2 % from three, 3.9 boards, 1.5 assists and .9 blocks.

He also played great D. Those are pretty awesome stats on a bargain of a contract.

Many people wanted a 3 and D player in the draft (Reggie Bullock) myself included and now we have one in Rush.
