Washington at Jazz Thread: Who gives a ****?

Bookers contributions tonight were more than what shows in the box score. Those dunks and blocks provide such a huge change in energy and momentum.

One think the team has been lacking are those amazing single moment plays in games that bring the juice like bookers dunks do.

Hayward, hood and favors often have very good games... But don't often have those wow moments (i think Booker should have a chance at a dunk contest) doing stuff that nobody else on the court does.... That is one of the underrated things that the jazz miss with Burks injured.
He is one of those guys that can make an amazing play each time he gets on the court that can change momentum and add energy and juice to the team and crowd.
 
Wow, 5 pages of posts for a winning game thread. That's got to be a new low. Me thinks people here are a bit checked out at this point.

Probably true. I know I kind of gave up hope for a successful season. I watched the whole game and loved every second. I was simply exhausted (been a hell of a busy week) and didn't want to get off the couch to go locate my phone.
Have to admit, beating a pretty good team in a blowout has rekindled a little spark of hope to get to that 42 win mark. The spark is extremely minute though.
 
My wife and I started a birthing class this week and at the end everyone is supposed to get comfortable and the lights get dimmed and the instructor reads a bunch of soothing stuff to help us relax/meditate.
Right at the beginning someone off to our left ripped a very low rumbling, wet sounding fart.
My wife and I start laughing. We are not letting any sound come from our laughter cause we don't want to spoil the mood and whatnot but our whole bodies are shaking and the laughter is uncontrollable.
I eventually was able to control myself but my wife simply couldn't stop laughing. So she got up and left the room to get herself under control.

She was gone about 10 minutes. She finally comes back and gets comfortable again and starts to relax/meditate. The instructor is reading her relaxing words and is talking about being in the woods near a river and, I **** you not, she says "smell all the wonderful scents that surround you", talking about the forest smells, but my wife and I couldn't handle it and we both bust out in laughter again. This time we couldn't stifle the sound. Everyone is giving us dirty looks and we felt so bad. Afterwards we explained why we were laughing so hard to the instructor and she busted up laughing too.

Another funny story from birthing class: At the beginning we all had to introduce ourselves. So we were supposed to say our name, whether we were having a boy or girl, and our favorite thing about pregnancy and least favorite thing about pregnancy.

Common favorites were feeling baby move, baby showers, bonding with their spouse, being able to eat what you want and not feel guilty/indulging cravings.
When it got to me I said my favorite thing about pregnancy is bigger boobs and always having a designated driver
(My least favorite thing was painting the nursery.. Thank god that's finally done!)
 
By the way, my son and I still give a s###. Riding out the tough times makes the later improvement all the sweeter. Jumping on and off the bandwagon is not for us. Stretch drive will be awesome when we close the gap. And if we try and miss, the consolation is a better draft pick. It is win win. Join us!
 
I enjoyed the game, but I can understand why people are reacting the way they are. The Jazz have lost so many leads recently that instead of getting excited when they are playing well you start to dread what's to come. Those collapses are so miserable to experience that nobody wants to get overly excited anymore.

And since the real purpose of this thread is to share birthing class experiences, when my ex and I were going through our class the instructor had this favorite pet couple who had gone through a previous class and would visit each time to tell us about the progress of their pregnancy. They were a few months ahead of everyone in the class so I guess some of the people found it fascinating to see the changes in the woman's belly or something. This man and woman were serious tree huggers, and they ad decided that they were going to have their baby as naturally as possible. The idea of no anesthetic, and all of the other wholistic stuff just thrilled the instructor (though it didn't do anything for most of the women in the class who wanted lots of medication). Then one day they showed up and told us their baby had come. They shared the wonderful connecting experience of going through labor with no painkillers, and they told us how it had strengthened their marriage. They told us every detail of the experience including the following gem that I will never forget.

After the birth they looked at the placenta, sitting in a bowl looking very sad. They asked the midwife what would become of it. She told them it would go into the trash. They were shocked and upset. This wonderful organ had played a central role in the creation of their child. It was the very essence of the transfer of life. How could they let it rot in a trash can? "Can we have it?" The midwife had never been asked such a thing, but finally she decided that would be okay. They took it home and put it in the fridge for a few days, but eventually realized that they did not want it there long term... so they decided to eat it. It was horrible. After one bite each they realized there was no way they could follow through on their pledge, so they gave it a funeral and buried it in their back yard.

a midwife who had never heard of parents' desire to do something with the placenta besides toss it in the trash? Was this the midwife's first birth? 'Alternative' uses/designs for the placenta are exceedingly normal.

Lol. I forgot to mention that they were both vegans, and that they attempted to eat the placenta uncooked. I think for strict vegans that eating placentas in any form would be frowned upon, but I'm not sure.

Edit: It's possible that I misunderstood or mis-remembered the details of their conversation with the midwife. After all, this story is 19 years old and I couldn't believe what I was hearing at the time (nor could any of the other expectant mothers and fathers in the room). As far as I'm concerned, toss that thing in the medical waste bin.
