Because you don't just trade a 24 year old with his potential (and current level of play) on his contract. If someone can show me some realistic trade involving Favors that isn't a lateral move and brings us back a super-star on a long-term contract, then sure, trade him.
That isn't happening. Any trade involving Favors that we could realistically be pulled off would most likely either be:
1. A lateral move not worth making
2. A rebuilding move involving future picks and rookie contracts
3. A move to get a perceived better player who is in the final year on his contract
If we somehow get the opportunity to draft Ben Simmons I am much more open to the possibilities of trading the pick to build around the Favors/Gobert/Hayward trio than trading away one of the best 2-way player in the league.
