I will say that the one really encouraging thing that I saw coming out of summer league on Sunday was that Gobert/Evans were setting screens for Trey near the three point line. Triggering pick and roll opportunities near the three point line rather than closer to the paint was one of the main advantages of the Stockton/Malone combo.

Makes me think that Sloan is already having an influence on Ty.

The only setback I can see with these recent moves is that Corbin will probably get a pass this year in terms of wins and losses. Jazz would have to have a epic meltdown (like a 2-20 start) for them to ditch Corbin.

Taking that into consideration, Corbin has no reason to hand over major minutes to Jefferson or Beidrins or Tinsley. These guys are just place fillers for one year. There is no upside to playing them.

There was no upside in playing Hayward behind Marvin either. That was just as idiotic a move as playing Tinsley over Burke would be. We are not out of the woods yet.

At one point, Ty actually yelled for Rudy to come out. Burke is not going to have a problem taking charge.

When you say that in the context of this thread, it reminds me of Sloan's brilliant tactic of playing McLeod and Palacio (who were so pathetic, no one would even look at them for 3d stringers) as starters ahead of top 3 selection in the draft. A bit worried.

I think he deserves another chance. You have to consider what he had to work with and what was probably asked of him (start the vets).It can't be easy designing an offense around Al either. He was in a tough spot with his situation last year.


The front office is prepared to stick it out with him so we better just get used to him.
