What if Hayward doesn't re-sign?

Saint Cy of JFC, I recall you saying Jackson will be the best player in the draft. We'd be guaranteed one of Ball, Fultz, or Jackson pretty much.

This is purely hypothetical and I would much rather have Hayward w/ an extension than any of these guys. You only do it if you feel strongly that he won't re-sign.

It's pretty clear the Jazz don't feel that way or Hayward would have been dealt by now. So the hypoethical is completely retarded when it's clear the Jazz have made all the right moves since the Hill trade to build a team that can compete and Hayward would want to sign with.

You're missing the point. Boston is the same or better (see our recent h2h result) WITHOUT Hayward. With him, they are so much better. And with Boston, he avoids the "brutal west." You're making my case for me Munson.

****, that's an ingenious reason for trading a guy.

Hey guys! We can make Boston an elite team. Let's do it while we have the chance!

And Hayward could leave Boston in FA. It's not like Hayward has publicly committed to sign a contract if Boston traded for him.

Hayward almost went to Charlotte. He signed an offer sheet with them. What makes us think he won't bolt to a contender in the East?

People seem to forget that Russell was an amazing passer in college. I really think Lonzo is going to struggle against NBA defenses and won't be able to play the same way he did in college. Will have to become more of a shooter/scorer like Russell has had to become.

Like Russ has had to become? He scored almost 20 a game in college and the concerns on whether he could be a legit pg or would always be more of a pure combo guard were there then and still exist.

Are you this forgetful or just being dumb? Hayward signed a max offer sheet w/ a different team because the Jazz played hardball hoping no other team would max him out.

"Contenders in the east" is a funny choice of words at this point... More like "outside chance to take down the king"

Still not the point.

My point is simple - trade Hayward this week if he doesn't commit to us. A basic private conversation with the fo would suffice. I'd rather have him than not, but I dont want to lose him for nothing then lose Hill then overpay the injured Favors out of desperation.

Russell is extremely difficult to contain in pick and roll situations for this reason, as he has an elite ability to operate at different speeds, utilize smooth hesitation moves, and take what the defense gives him. His passing ability is arguably his best attribute at the moment, as he sees the floor wonderfully at 6-5 and shows incredible creativity and skill for a player his age, constantly probing the defense and whipping balls all over the floor with utmost confidence.

He's extremely unselfish, not afraid to throw the ball ahead in transition to ignite the offense, even if he won't get credited with an assist. He often sees plays developing before they actually materialize in the half-court, and will move the ball calmly and quickly in the flow of the offense, getting his team an easy quick-hitting basket before the defense can react.

Sounds like it.

He was fine going to Charlotte. He was fine coming back. He still signed with Charlotte.

He signed with Charlotte because Utah wasnt giving him the offer he thought he was worth and Utah challenged him to go find that offer and he found it. Utah gambled and it backfired badly. Putting that on Hayward as a sign of his lack of "loyalty" is ridiculous.

If Hayward doesn't re-sign Rodions Kurucs would be a nice player to have drafted..

I'm not questioning his loyalty, but it took him no time to entertain the idea of going elsewhere. He signed the fastest RFA offer sheet in the history of the league.

I don't know what the guy will do. None of us do. The next 5 years hinge on his decision. Its not too much to ask the guy to show his hand.

That's not very realistic. A team is free to shop a player behind his back while under contract. He gets the right to listen to other teams pitches on fit, lifestyle, etc.

You're right. I just expect more from our fo and him. I don't want to trade him but I would if he cant commit.

His loyalty seems to be with his old man and family. If he gets the ok from them he'll bolt no problem. Him 'betraying' Utah wouldn't even be much of a national story after what KD and LeBron have been doing for summers.....

He's certainly more marketable in other places even with his bland personality.

As a fan without a team, I'm actively hoping he bails. Trading him would a dream-scenario for me at this point. Even if they don't return equal value and just stack young assets like what the Kings did, then let Joe Ingles let it fly for the rest of the season..

Good lord dude. He knew Utah was going to match (or at lest had a very good idea they would). He found a max offer deal and he signed it, he met with other teams before Charlotte. Your salt level towards Hayward is so unbelievably high.

Ultimatums are always great in any relationship.
