They did let me enjoy 3-5 extra games that season. Its about odds rather than guarantees. They have a better chance to draft embiid at 1 or 2 than 5.
Let me ask you this? Did winning an extra 3-5 games that season do anything for the jazz franchise? Could we have even possibly done worse in the draft than we did?

And no, they couldn't have possibly done worse in the draft. Though if they would have drafted the consensus #2 pick, they would have been as equally worse.
And there's no guarantees they would have had a higher draft pick if they lose 3-5 more games anyway., though I guess the odds are better They got jumped in the lottery, and would have had to lose at least 10 more games to guarantee themselves the 4th pick that year. Plus, the only way they're drafting Embiid is if they would have lost 5-6 games and then pray that the ping pong balls would have magically fell their way again with a better team jumping Milwaukee in the lottery for pick one and the Milwaukee winning the 2nd pick. If the Jazz win the lottery that year or get 2nd, there's no doubt in my mind they pick Wiggins or Parker.
So yeah, losing 4-5 games in 2014 would have improved the odds. But not by much, since the odds of the Jazz drafting Embiid were miniscule to begin with.
