At this point I'm not sure I couldn't beat Fontecchio out for a rotation spot. Hendricks shouldn't have a problem.Samanic is only partially guaranteed. If Hendricks can beat him out by mid-season, Hendricks could take that rotation spot. He could also beat out Fontecchio in the rotation at some point. He's just going to need to earn his minutes. I think he's a 4 though. I'd expect him to backup John Collins.
Not how things work in reality at allI think the reality is going to be minutes will be rotated on the back end unless someone is really playing exceptionally well.
It's how Hardy did it last year and how he publicly stated he liked doing. Not how things work in reality at all
It’s not how he did it. Guys win rotation spots and then if they don’t play themselves out of the rotation they kinda stay there until an injury or in our case a trade happened. Unless there was load management the rotation was the rotation. It's how Hardy did it last year and how he publicly stated he liked doing.
Aside from the obvious strengths most people talk about (good shooter, defense, rebounding, good at running the floor) his catch-and-shoot numbers in college were really good, which has me super excited. He's going to be clutch for us in the NBA and he'll get a ton of open looks, not that he necessarily needs them.I agree RE: the 5.
And I know the difference between 3 and 4 is basically zero, so I'll just say that I think Hendricks should be able to guard any perimeter wings, plus do some banging with the bigger powerwings in the interior. He's a big, switchable wing.
His recipe for minutes is pretty straightforward to me: (a) hit his threes and move ball, (b) very solid man-to-man defense, (c) the awareness of when to rotate and protect the rim as a help defender.
There are some folks who aren’t big fans… he will have ample opportunity to prove himself… I’m a believer… the organization obviously believes in him.Aside from the obvious strengths most people talk about (good shooter, defense, rebounding, good at running the floor) his catch-and-shoot numbers in college were really good, which has me super excited. He also has a good basketball I.Q. on both sides of the ball and as you mentioned I agree - he'll be a solid help defender.
Hendricks is going to melt the faces off the JF posters who are sleeping on him. It feels like there are only a handful of us who are really high on him.
There is nothing rough about Hendricks game. He has some skills like shooting, finishing at the rim and defense that are going to translate immediately.
