What's new

What upgrades are needed to make us a contender?

I disagree when some of you say we haven't play an elite team yet. We do. Memphis and Denver are elite teams. Mark my word, Denver will be in conference final at min this year. Hopefully it against us.
Memphis was missing 2 of their 3 best players both games

Denver was Porter and Murray's first game playing together in forever
Yes correct. But Porter got 15, Murray 12 and Gordon 22, Jokic 27. So they were quite okay already. But i agree they will get better and better. As i say they are for me the favorite at West. It doens't make our performance less convincing.

Paul George would be interesting if the Clips flounder. Two end player. Great length. Just not sure I trust him in a big moment at all. Maybe even start him at the 2. Idk.

Conley
George
Lauri
Vandy
Olynyk

If Lauri sustains his current level of play, I think a top tier wing could really raise our ceiling. If Boston implodes I’d push to reunite Jaylen Brown and Will Hardy

No thanks. Would love Brown on this team but he is UFA at the end of next season with a lot of teams going to have cap space. If we are go all in on a player we need to make sure they're locked into a long term contract.

Im not against using lottery protected first rounds rounders on one year rentals who we believe could have more to their game then previously been able to show such as a Myles Turner but if we are going to use a lot of our capital the player we trade for has to be tied down.

You obviously don't make the trade unless you know that you can extend him as soon as a deal is finished. You'd give up draft capital for Myles Turner but not Jaylen Brown? lmao.

News flash Brown isn't extending here. Any offer we could make so could another big market team.

I would give up a first rounder that is lottery protected. Hardly draft capital, given the number of draft picks we have stashed away. Turner is a free agent this year with less teams having cap space thus the potential to extend him. Completely different situations.

Kind of depends on where we end up. If we are truly competing and he sees that he can be the impact guy to push us over the top he might opt to sign on to see where it goes. As presently constituted, with so many unknowns, yeah he probably wouldn't. But who knows about later if we keep this up.

I'm still on the fence of this being a fluke (leaning towards not, they've only gotten better this far into the season). But assuming they hold, a two-way wing and an additional big would be good for depth.
