What's The Last Movie You’ve Seen?

Would you also defend the use of the n-word on the basis of "I wasn't using the word as a slight on those who are actually of african descent?"

I would. Much like SimpleFool, I also use terms like, "What's up my *****?", "Yo ho, knee grow!", and "***** please!" when I talk to my friends on a regular basis. I call them gay whenever they do something that seems gay to me, or they are being lame. I call them retarded when they are acting stupid. That being said, I have ZERO issues with black people, gay people, or mentally challenged people. I just like using those words.

*I'm not trying to stir anything here, and hope I don't get in trouble for using the actual terms which may be in the filter in order to prove my point.*

I just like using those words.

Isn't a significant part of the "charm" of using those words that, as an act, it feels transgressive?

Where I'm going with this is, how much of the fact that you like to use them is intrinsically tied to the idea that they are taboo?

I have a question. Why don't all movies have a combo pack? I really want to get Insidious but... its either DVD or Bluray. Should I wait and see if they come out with the combo pack?

Isn't that why we swear too? Because for most of my childhood, someone was always telling me not to... so I did it anyway.
I would use the Lord's name in vain a whole lot less, if not using the Lord's name in vain was just a suggestion and not a commandment.

Human nature is retarded.

'arry Pottaaahh!! I find that I'm less disappointed in a movie when I don't read the book first. I've read 1-6 and half of 7 and decided to hold off on finishing the book 'til after the movie.

Charm? Transgressive? Um, no, not even a little bit. They are the words that I grew up with and have always used, friends have used, etc. Instead of saying, "Man, that is so silly!" I have always said, "Man, that's so gay!" -- not because secretly in my heart I knew it was a naughty word, but that's just what it was, gay.

I learned to say the F-word and might agree with your statement above in regard to that and other cuss words, however.

Watched season premiere of Breaking Bad...

it seems like this season will be the downward slide of the series. It was great before, because it was an interesting idea with interesting characters... but the last episode hasn't shown me anything that makes me believe the series is going to progress from more than anything other than an endless cat and mouse chase.

i know this got rave reviews, but i kind of found it boring and predictable. I knew who the bomber was early on. It reminded me of movies like Groundhog Day, Inception, The Matrix, except I really enjoyed those movies. This one not so much, it got boring and repetitive fast. I really hated the actress on the train, she seemed robotic, just plain terrible acting. The other actors were fine, it's just I couldn't stand her. I think Jessica Alba could have done a better job.
