What's The Last Movie You’ve Seen?

Like what?

It’s been a while since I saw it but iirc, my annoyance came with how they kill the creatures.

Evidently no one could figure them out, not the best military in the world (that’s what always bothers me about these movies)...just some person in the woods. Dumb.

Bird box was just boring. The whole blindfolded trope got old before you finished the opening sequence. The whole "girl" "boy" thing just came across as dumb instead of emotional. Forced emotional sequences just don't work. And as soon as it became evident that the things can't really hurt you, it devolves from high-concept fantasy to just being afraid of mean people which is pretty much every movie. And on top of that it was very obvious who the"bad" people were right off the bat. They also wasted a perfectly good John malkovich supporting role. I spent most of the last half of the movie playing on my phone.

Burning

This was pretty good. Well-acted. Taut and somewhat of a slow burn. Nice use of perspective and focus, beautiful dusk and down shots. And it's really easy, the film guides you to pick apart the metaphors and it has layers of it.

I haven't made a list but it probably makes top 10 of 2018.

I was more interested where they are coming from when they hear the sound. Like from under the ground? Trees? do they hide in the bushes? Where the heck are they when not killing sound producing people or racoons?

Watched Bandersnatch today. Very cool movie where endings depend on the choices you make. Loved it.

You can tell they put a lot of effort into it. Although I felt like it was cut a bit short in the end and it eventually started to get repetitive. But the idea generally worked and kept me entertained.

Somebody figured our there is 23 different endings... and I only got through 10 lol.

Loved American Animals. Loved. About time I see something that feels fresh and original and is also well done. I had zero issue with the the doc-like snippets worked in. In fact, I think it completely enhanced the storytelling.

Saw Green Book last night. I loved it! As the lady sitting next to me said afterwards, "I didn't want it to end." Viggo Mortensen was amazing, as was Mahershala Ali. Great movie. Find it and see it.

Just watched Silver Linings Playbook for the first time in about three years. I never bought the love angle but I love this movie. So well acted. So many great little roles. And I absolutely love the score and this quick zoom in thing Russell does with the camera a few times. Very effective. Especially since the latter is always done with music. Just very unique.

I couldn't find Wes post about how there are no good young actors but how about the black actor in that movie Get Out?
I'm watching Widows right now and he is in it and fantastic again like he was in Get Out
