You think he's better than GOD?!?!

Better than GOD? That statement makes the assumption that I don't think he is god.... But seriously, I think there is a lot to be positive about when watching Favors play. We need a guy who can play both sides of the floor. Looks like he can be that player.

Favors has monstrous potential*, and he's been steadily getting closer to realizing it. His trajectory over the last few weeks has been very, very encouraging.

*Can play both big positions equally well, huge, athletic, has an emerging offensive game that I was skeptical I'd ever see, already a defensive force and still has room to improve, has no delusions as to the player he is or could be (if he has any delusion, it's that he might not know how good he could be). You can't say all of that for anyone else on that list. And I am aware fans of other teams will read this thread and laugh.

Favors lack of natural scoring ability kind of limits what he can do though. Could he ever be a #1 option on a playoff team? He can be the #1 defender for sure, but will he ever be able to score at will like Love can, and Griffin will be able to do soon?

Lack of natural scoring ability? What does that even mean? The kid is 20, ultra-talented and to me appears like could become a 24-12 guy. I predict in three years, he'll approach that. And he'll still be just 23 then. So relax.

He also seems to be devoloping confidence as to what his role is on the team too. Meaning I think he knows, now, he really is a cornerstone of this franchises future. 3 months ago I'm not sure I could say that.

If and when he gains a "I'm the most talented player on the floor" mentality he will be an absolute beast.

Why isn't Al Jefferson on the list?

Some players just do things naturally.

Kanter has natural rebounding instincts. It's just something that comes easily to him. Favors has it with defense. Griffin and Love have it offensively.

Can he work on his offensive game and make it better? Yes, but I doubt it will ever be on the level of Griffin or Love.

Love. I don't think Favors will get to 26/14 level. Defensively Favors is & will be superior defensively but I don't think that will outweigh Love's scoring & rebounding. Love also a much better foul shooter.

I think this board is underrating Blake Griffin. Favors has the physical tools to be a great 2-way player. He's got a bit of standing reach on Blake Griffin, I think, but most of the country would take Blake Griffin over Favors at this stage.

He could be the next Malone if he is able to develop his offensive repertoire.

I think Favors, if given the role and the minutes, will rebound about as well as Kevin Love. I actually think that Favors' physical tools give him the potential to be a better go-to player in crunch time. There's no question that Love is the more developed player, but I'd call this one a toss-up just given Favors' potential.

Favors. Yes, I believe he will surpass every person on that list in each category, sans Love's scoring. I hope he proves me wrong there.

Love and Griffin will never be able to do what Favors does defensively already. He doesn't have to be a #1 scoring option.

I would take Griffin, because like Favors I think he's a player who is also just scratching the surface in developing his offensive repetiore, but also has the ceilling to be a dominant go-to scorer.
People talk about Boozer and Al Jefferson as defenders - has anyone seen Kevin Love defend? He brings elite rebounding and scoring skills but he's not without his faults as well. I'll take Favors for the next 3 yrs at $18 mil over Love for the next 4 yrs at $60 mil, with the understanding that the difference in salaries can be used to build a superior team with a defensive anchor in Favors as opposed to one with Love as your franchise player.

Either way LA isn't trading us Griffin for Favors so...as those on Jazzfanz like to say, this is really a "mute point." Barring something really crazy happening, Derrick Favors will be in a Jazz uniform for the next few years which to me is the most exciting thing about the team right now.

Blake Griffin. I'd take him for Favors but I would be Favors would develop an offensive game and become a top 3 center/pf

Love and Griffin both suck defensively. Stats and highlights aren't everything.
Plus both of them have short arms.

I'm sure someone could talk me into both Love AND Favors, though.

That sounds weird.
