Who are we tanking for?

Who are we tanking for?

For the bitches who only think about this year after year without realizing that it ain't necessarily a ticket to the 'Promised Land'

Heaven forbid we think about the draft, a chance to add talented players to our team. Oh the catastrophe of enjoying such a thing.

Someone might want to let Snyder know that the Jazz are tanking then. 5-5 over the last 10.

But some tough games coming in the next 10. @ OKC, @ HOU, v. ATL, @ SA, @ CLE, @ CHI, v, GSW. Only promising games are the Lakers and Pacers come to town and @ Minny.
Ebb and flow of the schedule. The only surprise was the win vs. Memphis. Without Alec, maybe Jazz lose some of the games that were once very winnable (@ Minny, home vs. Brooklyn, etc.).

With more bad teams this season, 25 wins may not be good enough for the fifth worst record. Obviously, if the Jazz get a top-3 pick, they take BPA (Okafor, Towns or Mudiay). Outside of that - in the 4-9 range - I'd say someone like Johnson, Russell or Porzingis. They're all players who could complement the roster we have or even be starters down the road. I wouldn't even be opposed to drafting WCS. That could be a dominating presence at the 5: Gobert playing 25-30 and then bringing in WCS. Just take BPA, regardless of position, and make roster adjustments if/when that player pushes for playing time or even a starting spot.

So last year we were shooting for Wiggins or Parker. But who are we shooting for this year? Obviously, we aren't going to be picking near the top. So if we had our dream scenario, who would we take at #9?

We need another ball handler who can create (since Burke cannot and Exum hasn't shown an ability to do so), we need another 3 pt gunner, and you can never have too many bigs.

Who are we tanking for this year?

This thread would be a good place to figure that out:

Hey Hantlers thanks for negging me and confirming how big of an *** I thought you were. Ahh jazzfanz is fun.

Maybe some just enjoy talking about the present AND future without being called bitches.

I don't think anyone is suggesting (or wants) the Jazz to lose on purpose. But we accept the fact we're rebuilding and have about a 0.00000000000000000000001 chance of making the playoffs this season. So why not talk about who the prospects are and how they might fit on the team. Do you think the Jazz scouts are out attending UK, AZ, Duke and a bunch of other college games featuring the players who will likely be in the 4-12 range (where the Jazz are most likely to draft)? Does that mean DL has given up on the team and is a bitch for even starting to look ahead? Maybe all GM's and scouts should wait until the season is over before they start looking at draft prospects.

Don't like a thread, just don't read it and call people names who post in it. You're generally a pretty good poster but in this case I think you crossed the line. I wouldn't neg you for the comment you made, but some would (and did).

D'Angelo Russell

He is perfect for us. Another gaurd who can pass and shoot. He's currently 17.4 pts, 4.6 reb, 5.2 ast and above 43% from 3.

And yes, you can have too many bigs. We may have too many now. GSW has done what they've done with how many true centers?

I like Mudiay, Towns,Johnson and Winslow for us as well, but I think they are all gone unless we get luckywith the lotto.

our #1 need is definitely a perimeter-defensive specialist who can shoot and make plays. A really physical wing who can guard 1 through 3.

STANLEY JOHNSON
I can emphasize this enough. Johnson is a good choice. I also like Justise Winslow.

I agree with the ebb and flow and what not but I truly believe that Snyder has no interest in the tank. He is looking at improving his players to the point where they start winning games as a team. It is starting to show. Damn near beat the Clips in their house during this stretch as well.

As such I think the Jazz end up in the late lottery. Maybe 11th - 12th.

ok I don't think the jazz are tanking but learning but right now here is my top 10

towns
mudiay
okafor
wcs
porzingis
Johnson
Winslow
hezonja
Russell
looney

turner
kaminsky
Lavert
oubre

that is pretty much my lotto picks. not a big fan of anyone else.

I would like Delon Wright in the second rd

No mid range game, but he knows it and doesn't try to take them. If his fast break magic could work for us off the bench, or even third string, it'd be fun. No gaurantee, but it's a second round pick, and it's hometown love.

Winslow is a more versatile offensive player with an improving shot (it's much better than when he was in HS), plays great defense, rebounds, good size...and he's just a leader. His teams win. Very athletic player too. He jumped over some guy to block a shot once, that was pretty neat.
From what I've seen, Winslow's offensive game is not at the same level as Johnson's, nor has his shot improved as much as Johnson's since high school. And Johnson has all these intangibles you're talking about, as well. The only thing I think Winslow has an obvious edge in is athleticism (which is saying something, cause Johnson is actually a really good athlete).

Just watched Russell. Reminds me of Harden but it was a highlight reel.

Could Poeltl be a Splitter someday?

Winslow doesn't shoot as well. I would argue he's a better ball handler, passer, and creates his own shot more effectively.
