What's new

Who is going to be the leader(s) of the Jazz?

The Spurs coach was not a HOF coach when he started. He didn't have respect right off the bat.

Snyder demands respect in the same way. People listen when he talks. Leaders will develop over time. Lebron was not a leader coming out. Neither was Jordan. It came with time.

I am not worried about it.

Pop was the Spurs general manager and VP of operations for three years before naming himself head coach in 1997 and he had the Admiral and Avery Johnson already on the team to go with Tim Duncan in his first year. Slightly different situation.

I see Burks as literally the last person on the team to be the leader, which is ok. Not everyone is a leader.

Saying so is one thing giving reasons is another. Please do so.

BIG-ALs main MAN Enes Kanter can take the burden to lead this team into play-offs next season. I hope AL gave Kanter some of his wisdom, that will make Kanter unstoppable.

Burks will be the leader line in every trade DL proposes.

Disrespectful.

Burke, Burks and Gobert.

Exum eventually, but swagger is different from leadership.

Surprise leader - Tomic if he comes over. He'd be the oldest and most experienced player on the roster. Can totally see him stepping up as a veteran leader on a super young team.

From listening to the interviews, Exum still seems very young. I think we've got to give him at least a whole season before we could expect him to step up in that sort of role.

Let Burke and Hayward and whatever vet do it. This season, I just want Exum to focus on learning to be an NBA basketball player. Considering his lack of experience, I think that alone will fill up his plate.

I agree. He seems very poised and naturally confident but he was thrown out of the nest and landed in friggin Utah!

From listening to interviews? How about looking up his age with the googles?

I wonder if there are any parallels between Australia and Utahr. I mean a black kid coming from the inner city and then going to SLC is going to have a just-moved-to-Siberia like culture shock.

Burke and Exum. Burke does appear a bit whinyish at times though in a way that reminds me of Deron's last year here.

This. A two-headed PG leadership team. It is the natural position to lead and these two seem to have the best leadership DNA. Don't expect Exum to lead out of the gate, but to emerge over a couple years. 2014 is Burke. Hope he backs it up with performance.

Utah will be a blessing in disguise for Exum. A top pick in an exalted draft puts a lot of pressure on a young kid. Much less in the city of Utah than a bigger metro area. Jazz will not skip steps with him and they will lower expectations in the media and fan base.
