People forgot how good Rudy is. Top 10 in the NBA.

Then again, during Rudy's rise, we had a poll on whether he'll be better than Duncan. And many thought he would.

Gobert has not played at that level this year. He definitely was the second half of last season.

But I still think Gobert will be our best player in 3 years but it might be close. Honeslty I hope it is Mitchell though. If it is that means he is really good and we are really good with 2 All-NBA caliber players. Thats an easy core to build around.

I fully agree, but I've come to believe that it is because of 2 reasons:

1. He doesn't have any space to operate. Our spacing is terrible, and he gets swarmed as soon as he touches the ball.

2. We have a non-shooting PG who mostly uses the bounce pass on the PnR. Rudy isn't good at catching that pass, making him pretty impotent in the PnR. If I remember correctly, he was best in the league last year.

PS: That's why I said people forgot. Rudy hasn't looked the same this year. So people forgot that he's really REALLY good.

Yes, that explains his offense. But on the other end, I see a player who looks lost and disinterested. He's not going after rebounds, not challenging as many shots, which means he gets beaten repeatedly at the rim. I haven't seen much intensity, tbh. Is he letting DM be the team leader? Or did he do an AK: signed the big contract and just didn't work very hard this summer. Between touring the world with his little buddy and his French national team play, maybe he just didn't put in enough individual work. Perhaps when he misses the all-star game and doesn't make all-NBA, he'll wake up.

I think those are issues but he has other issues not related like his hands getting worse, his less aggressive picks especially the off the ball ones, his lack of outlet passes and vision in general, his lack of bodying up guys on rebounds and lack of physicality on offensive boards. He is still great but those are my areas of concern and they have nothing to do with spacing.

That sounds like I'm bashing on him but I still think he is a really good player but I think he isn't trying as hard on the little things so far for some reason.

He did start slower last year before getting in a groove and really taking off.

Are his hands actually getting worse? Or is the fact that he can no longer expect a pass he's comfortable with? I don't know if his hands are worse.

I also see the same issue with effort that you and Jack Strop mentioned. Specially on the defensive end. It's been the one thing I've never seen from Gobert. He typically plays with quite the fire. I don't know what's up with that.

Mitchell would have to be insanely good to be as good as Gobert (Assuming last year's numbers and not the sss from the beginning of this year) Rudy was a top 10 player last year. There are many ways to be valuable, and I think some people just don't understand how valuable Rudy is because some of what he does doesn't land on a box score. I think Donovan has a chance to be an elite scorer, which would be really valuable. He has to be able to do it efficiently to be in the conversation to be better than Gobert assuming no major dropoff for Rudy.

Hopefully he's not on the team right now. (Yes, I'm still dreaming of a Doncic or a Porter Jr).

This. 70% of what Rudy does is not tabulated in any meaningful way. He is one of only a few players in the league that impacts a teams entire offense.

The 2 biggest things with Rudys game that aren't recorded are:

1) The shots he changes
2) Opposition players either not wanting to, back out of, or are hesitant in attacking the paint.

Rudy, Mitchell, exum. And whoever else they add in draft or trade. Maybe even free agency will be easier with two stars.
