I think the coaches need to redefine his role and game - he's not a sharpshooter from the outside or an instant-offense guy who can carry the bench-scoring. He should be cast as a versatile wing off-the-bench who can put it on the floor and either pass off the bounce or get to the rim and when left open - can hit the open stationary 3. His biggest problem is taking ill-advised perimeter shots either off the dribble or when he's on the move. I think too much pressure was put on him last season as Utah's only real scorer off the bench - and he obviously forced his shot way too much.

To me, picking up his $3.7 million option is a no-brainer. After that, let's see how the draft shakes out and then proceed from there - but CJ can definitely be a contributor to a winning team, and as well as having half-decent trade value around the league.

CJ lacka disciprine. He also lacks discipline. It didn't help at all that he was asked to have too big of a offensive role last year. As much of a streaky shooter as he is, you let him put up a couple shots and go from there. If he's hitting, you let him keep shooting. If he misses his first two, then he's got to take a different role, and try to make things happen by passing or trying to get to the rim. If Ty isn't committed to this, then they'd be better off trying to move him. Trading him might be the best move anyway, as his trade value might be higher than a lot of people think.

Picking up the option shouldn't even be a question. Pick it up and use CJ as trade bait. If we don't find a deal we like, hopefully Ty can teach him some discipline by planting his *** on the bench when he starts chucking.

He is pretty cheap for next season and we are a struggling young team, so I would give him the option year and if someone develops he is cheap enough to trade mid-season. Long term, he is not the answer. He is just a nice spark off the bench after that and would have to be in that 3-4mil range which isn't going to happen.

How the Jazz can trade Maynor and Brewer for nothing but cap space yet keep CJ all these years is beyond me. Then go and sign Bell and let Mathews go is an indication of how this team will probably never win a championship.

Maynor was a backup to the Jazz' best player and wasn't worth the $10M savings. CJ was not overvalued by Memphis and wouldn't have garnered a first round pick.
