Why is bumping an old thread an infractable offense?

I love how an "infraction" can cause such an uproar. It's less than a slap on the wrist in reality. I guess someone's feel-bads get hurt and so goes their pride so they have to complain about it?! You'd think after 17 years I'd understand it.

Isn't it more than a slap on the wrist? NAOS said you slapped his wrist AND stole his lunch money.
