Why so little interest in Embiid coming to Utah?

I'd draft him. If he pans out he would be the steal of the draft. If not you have the excuse that he was #1 on your board.
 
Embiid at #5 is a wet dream, IMO. Plus we'd probably get nice offers for him. A lot of teams must still have interest.

Did you know that MJ is much smaller than Embiid? This injury is much bigger concern for bigs than SGs. Also I think the concern is more the slew of injuries than just one thing.

That is the major concern... this seems to be a killer for bigs. I also think people are just concerned about his makeup... I heard something about malnutrition growing up and potential blood diseases that may have been the result of growing up in Africa. It is unfortunate... think he could be a hall of famer.

He seems like a nice kid and I hope he ends up being great. I just dont think the Jazz are in a position to take that big of a risk.

Embiid ' s issues have been with his bones, Right? So it's not any of his ligaments. That's good I suppose. Maybe we can just give him all the milk he can drink.
 
We can't afford to take such a high risk. The history of big men in the league with foot injuries not being able return to form should be enough to scare off any sensible GM.
 
The idea of drafting him gives me kind of a boner too.

But the more sensible part of my brain says this is a 7 footer who couldn't make it through a full college season, and wound up with stress fractures in his back and foot, in addition to mysterious blood problems. Keep in mind he's been playing organized ball for three years, and his body already seems to be breaking down. That's a scary pick.

I sort of disagree. Right now, we have many young players who need to be playing a lot of minutes each night in order for us to best assess them imo. Burke, Burks, Hayward if we match, Favors, Kanter, Gobert, even Neto. Drafting Embiid means getting the guy who was the consensus #1, sitting him for a year to ensure he gets fully healthy (easier said than done) and in doing so, allowing those aforementioned players to play and play a lot, while also getting a huge, huge asset. Hell, he could get re-injured in December and he would still be worth a ton. Draft the best guy on the board and rest him, and use 23 to get Early (especially if we don't match Hayward) and BPA at 35.
 
I think our hearts want someone so badly after having to wait a year for this moment but I think the smart move is to take the BPA at 5 and that is Embiid imo.
