Why so little interest in Embiid coming to Utah?

With Embiid projected to go at #5 or lower on some draft boards why is there seemingly just a passing interest in him by Jazz fans? Healthwise, the risk is there, but I'm having trouble understanding how the Jazz can possibly pass on a guy who, if healthy, has by far the best chance of becoming a superstar. Is it because you don't think he'll fall to #5 or because you are haunted by the ghost of Oden?

I would touch him. But I heard Locke today mention that if the Jazz select him he thinks that means something up on the trading front.

Guy hasn't been completely healthy in 2 years and now has an injury which is not only slow to heal, but has a high rate of failure.

If he's there at 5 I take him... I'd then try to move to #1 or turn to Boston and see how much they like him. If we can get 6 and 17 that'd be cool. At very worst I think we could turn to Sacramento and offer him up for 8 and take whoever is left from Smart, Gordon, Randle, Vonleh and maybe get something.

I'd take him and pray for the best. a #5 pick is never a guarenteed, but embiid has anthony davis potential and you gotta take risks if you want greatness

Way to risky for the Jazz to take him unless a trade is already in place.

If we get a bust at this pick then we are picking from crap next year and probably more in the 10-15 range .

There are IFs with every player in the draft the problem with Embiid is his IF may be out of his control whereas for the others if one can't shoot he could potentially learn how to shoot. If I'm getting paid to make this decision I wouldn't risk my job by taking Embiid due to the chance that he may pull an Oden.

I'd draft him. If he pans out he would be the steal of the draft. If not you have the excuse that he was #1 on your board.

Embiid at #5 is a wet dream, IMO. Plus we'd probably get nice offers for him. A lot of teams must still have interest.

You guys know that MJ had the same foot injury in his second year?

:^O

Did you know that MJ is much smaller than Embiid? This injury is much bigger concern for bigs than SGs. Also I think the concern is more the slew of injuries than just one thing.

That is the major concern... this seems to be a killer for bigs. I also think people are just concerned about his makeup... I heard something about malnutrition growing up and potential blood diseases that may have been the result of growing up in Africa. It is unfortunate... think he could be a hall of famer.

He seems like a nice kid and I hope he ends up being great. I just dont think the Jazz are in a position to take that big of a risk.

Cuz we gettin Wiggins Aight.

Embiid ' s issues have been with his bones, Right? So it's not any of his ligaments. That's good I suppose. Maybe we can just give him all the milk he can drink.

We can't afford to take such a high risk. The history of big men in the league with foot injuries not being able return to form should be enough to scare off any sensible GM.
