What's new

why so many of you giving up on Burke? He is our future PG, period!

Someone outlined these before in some thread a while back. I'll repeat it

Name..........ht...wt....reach
TB3 ...........6'1 187...8'1.25
Chris Paul. ...6'1..178...7'9
Steve Nash...6'1 187
Tony Parker..6'2 177
Rajon Rondo. 6.1...188
Mike Conley...6.1...175..7.10.5
D Lillard.......6.3...189...7,11.5
Eric Bledsoe6'1.5...192...8'2
Kyrie Irving...6.3.5 191.... 8'3
Deron Will.....6.3...202...8'2
John Wall..... 6.4...195...8'5.5j
.
(And of course John Stockton who was 6.1 170)

There are others you could list

This is enough data to show that Trey Burke's size does not preclude him from being one of the best PG in the game.

Ya, I don't want teh Jazz to win a Championship unless it's in a very specific way that I have planned out in my head.

LOL

£¥£

I want a championship no matter how we get it.

If i could choose between winning a championship on the back of a linuep featuring kobe, rondo, love, hibbert, and harden (or some similar lineup of other teams players) or winning a championship with burke, burks, hayward, favors, and kanter making up a large part of the core........ then i would choose to win it with our guys.

If you want that to mean that i only want to win a championship by a certain set of criteria then go ahead and think that but it just aint true.

I will take a championship with margo dydek as our go to woman and donald sterling playing point guard with rosie odonnel as the head coach if thats what it took to get a championship.

I'm not an Exum lover or a Burke hater. However, Exum's unique size and gifts for the potitions are too much to pass up IMO if he's there at five (unless Parker or someone else in the top 3 slips). Drafting for position is stupid unless you're an elite team. Even then it's probably stupid.

Trey is a 90% FT shooter at 21years old - a very high indicator of exceptional hand-eye coordination. I believe he will become the mid-range equivalent of Tony Parker - or better if that is possible. (Has there been anyone in NBA who is that high of FT shooter and was not an exceptional shooter from the floor?)
1. There have only been 5 players with 5000+ minutes who shot 90% from the free throw line. Probably not the best place to start.

2. Of the 81 NBA players with 5000+ minutes who shot at least 85% from the line for their respective careers, 18 shot under 42% from the floor, 13 shot under 41%, and 3 shot under 40%.

Thanks for looking that up - the correlation to excellence is not as high as I imagined.

a short unathletic point guard played for the jazz a while ago. jazz let him go after 20 years. gary payton loved him. anyone knows who that is?

Stockton wasn't athletic?

What about his vision and shooting ability?

I'm just not seeing the comparisons to Stockton. Burke has more in common with Jacque Vaughn than Stockton.

I don't consider vision and shooting ability as athleticism. We all know his vision and shooting were outstanding. I am just trying to say it's too early to give up on burke.

Why is trading the guy giving up on him? If you can get a better player, then you just move on.

Burke isn't Kyrie Irving. He isn't not a great offensive player and he is a below-average defender. I hope he has a some serious competition for the PG spot this year. He needs to produce or be moved.

You don't want him to be Irving he's a ball hog. Of course Burke isn't a "great" offensive players how many rookies are? Especially when that rookie played out of position the majority of the season.
