Why the hell we didn't make a run at David Blatt?

So why the Cavs had the brilliant idea to invest in a proven and winning coach as Blatt and we opted for a little known coach as Snyder?

If Blatt has accepted the Cavs bench then the Jazz would have had the right premises to hire Blatt too!

I just know that taking Snyder is much more risky than Blatt. I'm sure that the Cavs gamble on Blatt will pay off!

I hope Snyder will prove me wrong.

I think what it comes down to...and we have no idea if the Jazz reached out to Messina or Blatt at all...is the Jazz are an extremely young team. Lindsey wanted a coaching staff that would maximize player development. W/L record is secondary right now. Wins will come as a result of players becoming better. Go back through the last 20-30 years of the NBA and you find coaches who were noted for their success with young teams. They didn't necessarily have the best records, but they kept getting hired to turn franchises around. Snyder is coming in to maximize and increase the talent level of Favors, Kanter, Hayward, Exum, etc. I don't expect him to be the best X's and O's coach right away. And in essence, I think that's what everyone wanted out of Corbin. He was given a veteran team and he did what he could to maximize wins. Then he was given a young team and did not meet the development standards that Lindsey set.
 
OP, geez, take your chill pill for the day. Did Dennis Lindsey provide us with a list of all of the candidates they interviewed or at least tried to interview because if so, I missed that memo?

In other words, we have no clue who he pursued or didn't pursue. I recall an article saying DL was going to be thorough and interview as many as 20 candidates for the job. Hell, I'm also led to believe DB was one of those 20. Why?

So my point is we perhaps did reach out to Blatt and he either didn't want to be here or DL and management thought Quin was a better candidate, for whatever reasons which may or may not include the facts that he's eight years younger than Blatt and is well-versed in the Spurs' system from which DL hails and which we're clearly trying to integrate here.

Just some thought. Try it.

That's a good way to think. I don't know much about Snyder, if he's good at developing young talent I'd feel better about him. Though, I wouldn't pass on Messina or Blatt just for the development aspect of our project, we could do that through the assistant coaches too, maybe we could do it even better that way since Head Coaches have too much responsibilities other than developing the young. Messina/Blatt + Snyder as the leading assistant, for that matter, would be just perfect.

But anyway, I see your point, we have no idea if the Jazz reached out to Messina or Blatt at all, so all is moot. I just wanted so bad for the Jazz to have a Euro-Coach because it's so fit with the Jazz's identity, as the Jazz has always been one of the few teams in the NBA that plays Euro type traditional basketball(with Sloan especially) but anyway, apparently Snyder is also good in that aspect so I've no problem with him whatsoever. Heck, he's like a fresh air after the depressing Corbin era.
