The Democrats play this game horribly.
Instead of destroying the Republicans and holding them accountable for not allowing the unemployment benefits to pass, they cave in and "compromise." Why? Think Bush would have done this? Seriously, just imagine had the shoe been on the other foot. AM radio and Karl Rove's propaganda machine would have destroyed the Democrats for "obstructing" the American people to play political games. Americans would be outraged at the Democrats for trying to force their tax cuts on people and forgetting about the unemployed only to prove a point.
I thought the Democrats had the upper hand. Kick, One Brow, etc was I wrong?
Why didn't the Demos play hardball with them?
It seems to me that the Republicans certainly know the art of sticking firm to their guns and manipulating the American people to get what they want. A lot better than the Demos.

End the wars: Failed. Today it was reported that it will be until 2014 in Afghanistan. Peitrus says that "We need to stay committed until the Taliban come to the negotiating table." Yeah, since that worked so well in Vietnam.... When did the N. Vietnamese surrender again? Ugh.... Vietnam II
Health Care Reform: sucked (caved into Republican pressure. I wanted a single payer system).

I was so mad I had to leave work. I was completely unable to function after about 3:30 PM. I actually puked when I got home. I wish I was making any of this up. Admittedly I had a fever this morning, but I swear it was related to Obama. 
All I've been able to think about between bouts of sleep is "this never would have happened if Hillary was President."

Of course you wanted single payer. All Progressives did. Unfortunately for you this is a center right nation. Not an uber left one. As for Tea Partiers, let me tell you what they want. Keep the tax rates the same as we are already taxed too much, and cute government spending. Neither party is adult enough to do it but entitlements need to be reformed on a major basis. It won't happen though because that would mean both parties would lose votes. This is what happens when you are enslaved by entitlements. The minute they are threatened, people go up in arms. Look at France and their idea to raise the retirement age from 60 to 62. Rioting in the streets by college students etc. Other spending cuts, defense spending. Sorry, whether we like it or not there is probably going to be an attack at some point. Cut the defense budget. Pull our troops out of North Korea and Germany for that matter. We don't need to police the world. Close our bases around the world and I am sure we could start reducing our deficit. I guess I like the isolationist idea.

There are rumors that she could challenge Obama for the nomination in 2012, but I believe that is just wishful thinking from Democrats with buyer's remorse.
