Withey

Looking at the stat sheet, I think we need Jeff Withey back. He was second on the team in FG % and stat wise should have taken some of Booker's time. I'm not sure why QS didn't utilize him more. It seemed like when he was on the floor he did good things and I think is miles ahead of Pleiss. I'm not sure what Jeff's contract is.

Depends on who they take in the draft IMO.

He's certainly a serviceable NBA C and will probably have a few offers to pick thru if he gets cut lose.

He signed a 2 year deal , so I don't think there's an option..

The $$ cost of cutting him would be minimal though.

The only real reasons to get rid of him would be if they could back a decent asset in trade or if they were clearing space for Pleiss..

Even if we get another big in the draft I'd rather have Withey than Pleiss.

I also felt like he was underutilized, and don't understand why. I hope he's back next year. I think the contract is pretty favorable, if I recall correctly.

He should have played some solid 2nd half minutes against the Clippers when Gobert went down. He could have been a difference-maker even just on offense-defense substitutions in crunch time.

Something else to note...

Per 36 minutes, Withey averaged more blocks than Gobert.
Withey: 2.9
Gobert: 2.5

A lot of that had to do with teams being a hell of a lot less willing to challenge Gobert this year.

That having been said, Withey was the 4th best player in the NBA at protecting the rim (allowed 42.6% on FG's attempted at the rim). Gobert was #1 at 41.0%.

I doubt he picks up a couple offers if he is cut. He was on his way out of the league and overseas whewn the Jazz signed him and he hasn't done anything in Utah to warrant another team wanting to pick him up.He dif has a nice highlight tape from Kansas however. If GMS onbly watched them tapes and not a whole game.lol

54% from the field 72% from the line 1 block per 12 minutes is below your standards for players making under 1,000,000 ???

I was puzzled all season why he didn't get more minutes. Decent defense, ok on pick and roll, good rebounding and blocks, good around the basket, team defense ok, able to hit a midrange shot, nice hands, wasn't an offensive liability like Gobert, able to be a positive on the floor when he was given minutes. Thought there were quite a few games where he would have been of more help than Booker. Not sure why Snyder doesn't like him.

Once you find your way to QS's doghouse it is very hard to emerge. See Little Sap, Burke, Cotton, Cooley, Kevin Murphy, Dee Bost, Brock Motum.

I don't think those players were in the doghouse...they were just really crappy players.

I don't disagree with the talent level of these players, but it seems they would do some good things albeit mostly in preason but some during the regular season and then need to go get a tetanus shot for the amount of splinters they would gather from pine riding right after performing decently.

There is no argument that Withey should have been taking Booker's minutes. Seems like every time Booker was on the court things were happening with him at the epicenter. Every good team has a guy or two that are balls of energy like Booker. No one is searching for their Withey.

I would never play him over Booker, personally. Booker is fantastic. However, when some big guys were out we could have used him more.
