What's new

Woj: Don to the Cavs for Markkanen, Agbaji, Sexton, three unprotected 1sts, two swaps, and a partridge in a pear tree.

Yeah I'm sure Cleveland will miss a rookie 2 guard who never played for them when they get a 3 time all star 2 guard instead.
I don't think Mitchell is the ideal running mate to pair with Garland. As they are well over the cap, and draft capital tied up for years, it will be tough to improve (maybe they can vet something for LeVert by fleecing another team).

Mitchell is a bit older, and the Cavs other stars need more time to peak. I think it will be fine for the Cavs, it just won't move the needle as much as they hope. And I think Don will bounce when he can.

If Don starts playing D, it could make a big difference though. Don is a much better offensive player, with more physical size than Sexton. It is an upgrade at the 2, but the Cavs may have been better off developing a couple more years before swinging for the fences, but the iron was hot so they struck.

OMG!! You can’t be serious!!!

From what Tony Jones said, sounds like the Jazz want to lose this year but try to win starting the next year. I’m not a big fan of that at all. Really don’t want to skip steps. Give ourselves a chance at some blue chip prospects in the lottery for at least 3 years. There’s nothing worse than being in the middle of the draft. You need stars to be able to compete. People will still turnout to watch exciting young players even if the Jazz aren’t winning a lot of games.

If you wait for ideal you going to be left in the dust.

Nah, I like it. DA is smart. The longer the Jazz wait to push chips in that means the picks will devalue as it becomes obvious both Cavs and Wolves are set up for long term sustainable success.

Get your stars asap.

The jazz need the balls to fall right for that to happen and I think Ainge and Zanik understand those odds. I suspect that's just the FO spin keep the impact to ticket sales at a minimum. When you tear down a house to the concrete foundation, it takes a while to rebuild and, if Jazz twitter is anything to go by, people have no understanding of this.

Trust me, the Jazz arent doing a long-term tank. They will be signing free agents to big contracts as soon as next year, maybe 2024 at the latest.

Funny listening to the Hoop Collective podcast Donovan was ecstatic to go to Cleveland.

Also noted that Cleveland/Utah have a really good working relationship. They have done a ton of trades over the years and even Ainge has worked with Cleveland in Boston. They homies.
