Burks was on an expiring contract. We now own a 37 year old, for $7.5 million over 2 years and he's clearly on his way to retirement. Plus we gave up 2 pieces of our future , in draft picks. What the hell are you talking about? Regardless what Cleveland was trying to get, they never would've. The Jazz took the bait and added to our laughing stock reputation around the league.

The Cavs didn't get a 1st, but the truth is that they tried to get one before they had to settle for our 2nds. Some even speculated they would get one for him. Sure, reports can be tainted, but you can bet your anus that the Cavs tried really hard to get a 1st rounder for Korver. At the end of the day, 2 2nd rounders do not equal a 1st. Burks definitely isn't a 1st.

As for us being a laughing stock, I haven't read a single report saying that the Jazz were stupid to do this deal. Most everything I've read has ranged from "move in the right direction but more work to" to "good trade for the Jazz because their 3 point shooting is 28th in the league."

If someone is worried about assets, don't. We had 3 EXTRA 2nd round picks from 2019-2024. In other words, we still have 1 more 2nd rounder than the average team has in that span. And 2nd rounders don't have the much trade value unless of course you target an aging 3 point specialist and you refuse to give up a 1st rounder...

We picked up a $4mm trade exception (that can be traded) as well as a ton of flexibility. Korver's contract is only partially guaranteed next year. So in essence, Korver has an expiring contract with extra flexibility. If there is a player we want to sign this off season we can trade or release Korver if needed. If not, we can guarantee his contract next year and have an expiring contract next year which with other salary going off the books, will give the team $42mm to play with in 2020.

There were definitely benefits to this trade for the Jazz.

Not many teams have 3 quality veterans like Crowder, Korver and Ingles who make less than $28 million combined. Two of them are 3 point specialists and the other is a SF/PF who shoots decently from 3. All three play decent to good defense. Combined, they make less than Hayward. Combined.

And all three are signed to these bargain contracts through next season.
