Its such a weird situation... usually there would be one ******* who operates as an agent of chaos and moves. Pretty wild. We could see like the biggest trade in NBA history when this thing shakes loose.

The premise is that Utah is under pressure to move Mitchell, or they're in a hurry or something. That's just homeristic posturing.

I dont think it really is.

Utah isnt in a hurry, but I do think the Woj tweet they had sent out signals they are ready to start serious negotiations. You want to build off that momentum. Once KD is traded that takes out a potential buyer. I would imagine Utah's bargaining power is pretty high currently and that might die down in August/September.

barrett's efficiency is well below average. he was a bit closer to average in his second season, but dropped off a cliff again in his third season.

Just so happened in the season where arenas were empty and several dudes had outlier seasons... just saying.

The Jazz can probably get comparable production from Malik Beasley at the 2-guard in the short term, if they feature Beasley enough. The question is what Barrett projects to be in a few years.

yeah, i mean barrett is still really young. the concern would be not only a lack of improvement from his second to third season from a guy his age, but the fact he took a step back. it doesn't mean he can't still be a really good player someday, but it's not a good sign.

If he had one more cheap year (so this year and next) or had two solid shooting seasons then I would want him. Having to guess and pay him now and also not currently having anyone to pair him with limits his value to us imo. If we flip him to another team for awesome picks then great.

Barrett has the ability to attack the defense as a driver and depending on how well he finishes and draws fouls, that gives Barrett an advantage.

Beasley just a shooter/meh scorer. The dudes has averaged over 2 APG once in his career and his career average for FTA per game is ZERO POINT NINE.

Barret is a jack of all trades type player.

I just think Barrett is over-rated. I mean the poll Fisher took where teams were like Barrett is definitely way more valuable than Herro is kinda silly to me. He scored points but was so inefficient. The shooting isn't very promising. The defense is good but doubt he gets to a PG or Mikal Bridges level.

I don't love either guy but I'd prefer to get more value in a trade with the perceived "less valuable" player, than give up a premium for Barrett.

My biggest issue with either Barrett or Herro is that we’d be trading for a guy that we’d then have to PAY big money to. If DA, JZ and Hardy believe that it’s worth it to PAY that guy to build around him, then I’m on board with that.

However, there’s certainly some appeal to going scorched earth and trading EVERYONE who has any value right now to accumulate the most assets they can to build around an all new group of kids and still have some left over to make the “BIG” move when the new window opens.

Like @KqWIN has stated... Quickley and Toppin might be the better pieces to steal from NY. They can keep RJ and substitute in those two plus an extra unprotected pick and I'd be happy. I also see that as more palatable to them.

Starting next year the Knicks would be capped out with some minor draft assets left to move stuff around. Its a lot of tinder for a fire.
