Woj says the Jazz are listening to offers for Mitchell

The New York fans will go nuclear if the Knicks do not get DM. They know DM is available and the Knicks really have to go all in on this opportunity or the fans will burn MSG to the ground.
Also they will burn down MSG when they trade for him by giving up too much... either way MSG burns.

the latest rumors seem to have us focused on picks... so that's a good sign. Andy also said with the Heat they are still in it but they need help... said we kinda told them to see what picks they can get for their other guys. So Riley has to find them a deal for Herro/Lowry that nets us something we prefer.
Is this from a radio spot?

We just have so many players and so much flexibility to be the middle person on the KD/Kyrie deals... get in there and help everyone get what they want while taking all the draft stuff and we are set.

That's just how I would be negotiating with MIA. The package they have stinks unless you really think Herro is going to be a star. I certainly don't feel that way, so if MIA wants Don they have to find a different team that does value Herro that way and give us that haul instead. The Heat don't have a package themselves that I'd say yes to.

If the Nets deal(s) get done, they'd probably love to have some combination of Bogey/Conley/Clarkson/Beverley as well. I'd be happy to take back Joe Harris and some sweeter for their pick of our vets. If Danny weasels his way to get the Lakers picks and distant Suns pick, that is a godfather type package.

You’re also going to eventually make large financial commitments to Barrett/Herro. I’m skeptical they will produce what their value is…and if they do, they introduce that fear of stopping the tank.

I don’t really look at Simmons as a piece to flip, although I think that’s a option. I think he flat out has a better chance at being a star player than any of the pieces that are being mentioned. The risk reward ratio is good for us, not so good if you were a team relying on him to win games immediately.
That is how I view Ben as well. The thing about Ben is that his teams have always been competing for a top seed and I think that is one of the primary reasons why he hasn't tried more to expand his game during the season. Put him on a team with zero expectations and I think he would feel more comfortable taking those outside shots even if he is shooting them at low rate. That is the first step for him to becoming a decent outside shooter. We have all seen the offseason videos of him shooting outside shots and he looks good but it just hasn't translated to his actually game. Put him on a crappy team for a few years where he is forced to take a lot of shots and I would put money on his game improving quite a bit. In the meantime while he is working on his game we are able to low key tank. Somewhat similar to what we have seen with the thunder and SGA. He has blown up these last few years but his supporting cast has been so bad and inexperienced that it hasn't hindered the tank that much.

Any potential cap space for the next three years is for rent to take on picks anyway. So there is for sure an opportunity cost incurred by the Jazz for the cap they use, but if the part of the deal that is taking on Simmons is two unprotected picks then you try to assess if that was a good use of the space. But it’s not as though Simmons’ salary is a real expense due to the 90% cap rule.

And then there’s the possibility that this is kind of exactly what Simmons needed and it actually goes kinda well. But the above analysis should be the principle one as him actually playing basketball or being good should not be expected.
I think being on a bad team with no expectations would be really good for Simmons mentally to get back on track. It takes that immense pressure off him of being a key cog in a championship caliber team for a few years.

We can grease palms of both teams to make it happen. Those are PREMIUM picks so if it costs Vando too then do it. He has a ton of value to cap conscious teams trying to win now imo. Kyrie/Vando/Bev may get them to part with those picks they are saying they won't put in... Bogey/Mike or JC to Nets instead of Westbrook.

It'd be wild to have 10 unprotected picks in the future... plus swaps.

Yeah….I know why someone wouldn’t like Ben Simmons as a person/player, but I do believe he has a better chance at being a star than a couple of mediocre draft picks. If he just got back to where he was, which isn’t unrealistic at all, he’s a player valued similarly to the guy we’re trading (Mitchell). I don’t really believe he can be much better than he was in PHI (maybe he can look better with a better fit), but he was a damn good player not too long ago.

He comes with a lot of risk and stink….but this is the type of bet we can make. We’ll probably get more picks than we would if we chose Barrett/Herro anyways because his value is so low.

I have now fully flipped on Ben……you guys have convinced me.
That's how my buddy started using meth too... so be careful.
