While Bradley was a definite upgrade from Arena, I think we could benefit from a foreign coach. The US system is not going to catch up if all the progress has to come from within. We could learn some things from a coach who came up through a world class system. It's nice to have players playing around the world, in the elite leagues, but individual players cannot change a team philosophy. A coach, if respected, can.

Fair question.
There are a few things that kind of make it a non-issue.
First the existence of a play clock or a shot clock makes finite time of the essence.
Second it is a lot harder in basketball and football to force a change of possession. In soccer change of possession can happen many times a minute. The game is a lot more fluid and is measured in terms of quality attacks in the natural flow of the game versus set plays or things that must be executed within a specific time limit.
I think that for soccer it works. I don't think it would for football or basketball.

Baseball????? It doesn't really have a time.

Since they don't stop the clock in soccer when guys are down and stuff like that, I think it's only fair to add a few minutes at the discretion of the refs. I agree it makes the end of the game much more exciting to think that the team that's behind has a bit of an extra chance to tie and or win.

There are plenty of close basketball games where the momentum shifts at the end and I wish they could just add two more minutes to the end of the game.

Let me tell you the main reason I like the way soccer is timed: I know the last 2 minutes of a game aren't going to take 45 minutes of actual time, a la football and basketball.
