Would you trade Favors or Gobert for #1 pick Ben Simmons

Favors is going to be a 18/20ppg 9/10 rpg player for awhile but Simmons is a 6'10 player who can rebound and lead a fastbreak constantly.Teamed with Dante Exum ,Jazz would have elite speed, length and athleticism to want to challenge Golden State with, the best team right now.
I'd try to keep Gobert because he has something going with Dante a growing bond defensively, but even he could be traded for Simmons . Favors for #1

I'd trade Gobert. The offense would still be clogged with Simmons/Gobert and wouldn't be able to take advantage of Simmons' abilities. The defense wouldn't be nearly as good, but you could have a potentially elite offense with:

Exum
Burks
Hayward
Simmons
Favors

That is a lot of length, even without Gobert.

Yep, I'm totally for it. If we can flip a #27 Draft Pick for Simmons you do it no matter what, throw in whatever extra.

I'm not down to drafting another project and wait to see if he works out. If we can't acquire talent to push this squad to the next level, then I'll just quit basketball until the situation changes. And I don't think a rookie for one of our two best players is going to do it before the others bolt and we have to rebuild.

In a heartbeat. traditional defensive anchor big is out of fashion in the current nba, everyone is going small unless your big can guard wings effective and to create shots

In the off-season (that's only 13 games ago), people were discussing whether they'd trade Gobert for Durant or Lebron (and some said they wouldn't). Now they want him gone for a pick. It's really funny.

I didn't post much in the offseason, but lol if that's true.

Theirs pros and cons for both. Both Favors and Gobert are going to be impactful for a lot of years.
Though you don't want to shout it out ,their is starting to be a question if together they are going to take Utah deep in the playoffs and even to the Championship level for the NBA Crown.

I think a Gobert ,Simmons ,Hayward,Hood,Exum ,is super elite in length ,speed and athleticism that no team in the NBA can match.
But if it was a Favors ,Simmons,Hayward,Hood ,Exum with Burks a super 6th man...you still have elite length, speed and athleticism

The point is , in Gobert and Favors as your bargaining chips you can sit at the table and offer high stakes.

It was the consensus on this forum that Gobert is a find of a life-time. In the All-NBA draft competition, he was picked around 15th, and everyone was talking about what a steal that was.

I wouldnt' trade. Sorry. Then again I was a guy that didn't want ot trade for Harden. So, maybe I'm a little risk adverse.

Just that the reality has set in, realizing Gobert isn't going to much more than a prime Tyson Chandler, best case scenario.

Riiight. Just give the Jazz a 5-game win streak, and Gobert will become a forum candidate for MVP again.

Then you realize he still struggles to do things offensively in traffic and gets out-muscled/bullied by Steven Adams. Still a great defensive player and potential for DPOY, but All-NBA might be forever out of reach if he can't improve on his center of gravity or hands.

100% certain this trade never happens or is even entertained by anyone in a position of power.

I'm sorry, but this is beyond dumb.

Why try to put a second rate imitation up to challenge the real deal? Small ball is going to go out of fashion just as fast as it came into fashion. Golden State is a special team. It isn't like they just discovered the ultimate strategy and that's why they are winning. They have the exact right players to make it work. They play small ball because that's the team they had to work with.

No ones trading the #1 pick for Favors or Gobert. It's a moot point, they'd want that plus picks. Which no one here will co-sign.

There's absolutely no reason to trade Rudy at this point anyways., he's 23 and costs next to nothing next season. Favors is on a cheap contract too.

That being said, I'd trade Hayward for Ben Simmons. That's the position he'd play anyways, SF. Then all that needs to be fine tuned is adding more shooting/depth.

Ben Simmons has superstar potential... like top 5 player potential... on a cheap contract and seemingly ready to contribute now. Assuming the cap doesn't change much a small market team like ourselves would almost have to make the trade of either Favs or Gobert for Simmons. I love both Favs and Gobert.

You think he's a better prospect than Anthony Davis?

I like this... I don't think we need to play small or that we are fundamentally flawed. GS is one of a kind and anyone that tries to imitate them will get crushed by them. You have to play the style that best suits your talent.

We do need some better players in some spots... I'm looking at you Neto and Booker.
