What's new

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

I think that's part of the problem, though. It's like that guy at work who's doing an awesome job covering for 2-3 different people, but it's not sustainable and you need to get him some help, even though it looks awesome how much work you're getting done by going lean. Quin has stretched our offensive far beyond what we have (nothing, essentially), which has masked how big of a need that really is and facilitated a pretty large degree of neglect.

This kind of hits on my issues I have with DL... there has been some low hanging fruit that could have made a big difference and we haven’t taken it.

Alright Zanik... fix it.

Listening to Rights to Ricky Sanchez podcast is sooooooo fun today though.

Coming down hill with an empty post with his passing and shooters surrounding the perimeter? He’s a better passer than Giannis and a better ball handler. I think he could be pretty tough to guard... he needs to get something that resembles a jumper but the dude is a good player. He’s a total douche but he’s a good player.
Yeah, but what if he just doesn’t have a shot? The fact that he’s this far into his life and he’s this bad, and he doesn’t even appear to try to address it, what makes anyone think he’s even going to have a shot to work on?

Very good point. I think he could still be effective but the thing has to be built around him... and it has a definite ceiling.

He is a bad enough FT shooter that hacking him in a pressure situation is a viable strategy. Again, he’s barely adequate shooting FREE THROWS.

Harris would be perfect. We all start disagreeing after him though.

I'd love to have Harris... but he's second on my list. Kemba is the best fit because we have Crowder who can be a high-level starter at PF. If we sign Harris.... the point guard situation doesn't have a clear answer.

I disagree with this pretty strongly. I don't think Crowder can be a high-level starter at PF. He's a high volume inefficient shooter and isn't a great rebounder.

An analysis of kinda worst-case scenarios:

Mitchell at PG > Crowder as your primary 4

I say we get Kemba or Harris and just go from there...

I think we could address pg by doing DM/Ingles in the backcourt... I think we could address PF with a combo or Royce and Jae... my preference has been to try Royce there but they hardly ever do it... if we had better options at backup sg/sf then maybe it'd happen more.

It's when we miss on those guys things get hairy. There are other options... but none that are nearly as good as those two.

How does Zanik feel about Kevin Love? Or could this be like Trey Burke and him being "Ty's guy"?
